  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I want to go to a Catholic Church part II - the after'mass'

While you are at it, Stray man, ask him about the RCIA program. You get an expert's attention for several months while you decide whether to be received into the Church. Only sinners are allowed to join. Qui n'a pas le feu est un fou! Mai qui est la hore? Etait lui, Satan?

    John 20:23

So, simply hearing a sermon means you are saved?

    No Catholics Need Apply

Being a Catholic makes them more likely to ask the question. It's funny how official Republican opposition to abortion is considered religious, despite the Big Tent toleration of pro-abortion Republicans, yet pro-life Democrats do not even experience the facade of a big tent. They either...

    Did Jesus Have a Soul?

When did He go back to being exclusively God? He still has His human nature, doesn't He?

Prayer request (though perhaps a silly one)

Moderator (NYJ) Note: Eliminated the party harassing Eddie, so this post is no longer relevant. Eddie is NOT in trouble. :)

Prayer request (though perhaps a silly one)

It's like they say in that movie trailer, "The longer you are married, the longer you can go without sex." Face it. Women snore, break wind, and steal the covers at night. If you use contraception you end up having to beg for sex. If you don't use contraception you end up on a feast or...

Prayer request (though perhaps a silly one)

Try to find a Catholic woman who also has a Catholic (pref Jesuit) education. Become her best friend. Better to marry a friend than a lover. My wife had no romantic interest in me at all, supposedly. Marriage can be incredibly painful, and that slight edge of both of you knowing there is no...

An observation in the Cathoilic Church

If you decide to come back, or simply explore the idea, be honest about it. Maybe your charges will give you a chance to explain your reasons, maybe not, but you must not deceive them or teach things contrary your conscience if God convicts you on one of those Catholic things. The last...

do you agree wif da pope?

    Oops. I meant Henry VIII.

do you agree wif da pope?

Exactly. Disobedience is not the same as heresy, but they kind of go together. Henry VII was not a heretic until his disobedience gave him the need to change doctrine. That's why I think pro-abortion Catholic polititians should be disciplined, not just by trying to demonstrate cooperation...

do you agree wif da pope?

If their dissent questions the dignity of the human person and by implication creates a new doctrine, would they not be in heresy? This is different from direct disobedience. You can murder or contracept, knowing it to be a mortal sin, without being a heretic. For example saying a fetus is...

Liturgical abuse in my Parish. Help!

Perhaps the bishop has delegated this part to the parishes. As for kneeling after the Sanctus, I would suggest arriving early enough to be in the front pews. If you and like minded people gather together in the front, you should get a frown from the priest when he figures out a protest is...

    Man Made Religion

Masculine personal pronouns are also properly used as the neuter personal pronoun in English, despite what NOW believes we should believe. "for us men and our salvation" does not exclude women. Also, if I were a feminist (not saying you are) I would not want to volunteer that the two...

do you agree wif da pope?

Indeed it is, but is it the same or different from an ex cathedra statement? I am kind of weak on what wording turns infallable (protected from error and cannot be challenged) into ex cathedra (must be believed to be a Catholic) statements. I think there is a difference, but I don't know the...

do you agree wif da pope?

I would propose a synthesis of Creationism, Evolution, and the Anthropic Principle. God started everything with His command, "let there be light." Cosmologist now seem to believe the Big Bang was not a central point, but instead it occurred throughout the entire universe at the same time...
