  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Need help with denomination

I think rather than looking to denominations, one needs to consider the local church and the way that congregation operates. If they are loving and compassionate, then that is a good sign. I recently read a fabulous new book, "Oh God. It Hurts!" by John Thornton. It shares his life story...

    Sin, Resentment, Faith, & Forgiveness

It is hard for me to forgive people who have hurt me. I think God understands that and is not harsh. Answers to prayers are sometimes hard to know. Our feelings are not always a good indicator of what God is doing. I I recently read “Oh God. It hurts!” by John Allen Thornton. It is...

what are you feeling right now? (22)

I recently read “Oh God. It hurts!” by John Allen Thornton. It is about pain and suffering. Oh wow! The author's sister just died and he shares their childhood which was really crummy. And the way his sister was treated by some church people. The book is great, and very readable.
