  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evidently neurons and brains are "optional" as it relates to learning and awareness (of environment)

Slime molds acclimate to chemical after repeated exposure then lose that acclimation after not being exposed to it. How did you jump the shark all the way into awareness? The study is interesting but it doesn't begin to approach the questions you want to ask.

The majority of scientists agree, and say that there is enough proof, That Jesus was...

Except for that whole part of the story where John goes all "but but you should be baptizing me!" and such. Your characterization of the story is not accurate and seems quite twisted to try and make it fit into an argument that is itself pretty flimsy as there is no reason for a mythological...

I recently heard that time, and reality may be an illusion, is there any science to back this up?

Neogaia777, do yourself a favor and watch some 'What the Bleep do we know anyway?' debunk videos or read some of the debunk articles written about it. Its sad to see you taking this stuff as being true when you were simply being lied to from beginning to end.

The majority of scientists agree, and say that there is enough proof, That Jesus was...

None of the Gospels in the Bible were written by anyone that saw Jesus alive, assuming he lived of course. I don't have much of a stance on that because I don't believe whether or not there was a real person that the myths were based is actually important.

Entry level salaries in technology, sales, marketing. Closing the gender gap?

Not a new thing, not a small thing and not an anomaly. Its a trend that has existed for at least 6 years now but it gets very little press because it doesn't fit into the narrative. Single, childless women earn 8% more than men in nearly every single large city in America. In some cities.. oh...

9 Reasons Pluto is a Planet: Is Pluto's Dismissal as a Planet More Political than Factual?

Why do people go and make their text huge? All it does is send off red flags that whatever it is they've written isn't worth reading. All you've done GXG is repeat and repeat and repeat, making your text bigger or changing its color doesn't make it any more persuasive or make it any more accurate.

Study finds impact of science and religion on human brain

You're assuming a causal relationship and as SciAmerican pointed out there is no reason to believe there is such a relationship presently. The study also does not draw the kind of conclusions in its discussion as you are. You are wanting the study to tell us that the issue is Atheism vs Religion...

Study finds impact of science and religion on human brain

I think Scientific American has the most important sentence in the whole concept "More importantly, the causal relationship between brain findings and religion is difficult to clearly establish." We've got no reason to believe presently that your Atheism or Religious belief is the cause rather...

9 Reasons Pluto is a Planet: Is Pluto's Dismissal as a Planet More Political than Factual?

We kicked Pluto out because it wasn't fair to Ceres to let Pluto in the first place. Poor Ceres already got kicked out a century before Pluto was discovered.

    wow God did that!

The Wikipedia on Einstein's Religious views is presently in a pretty bad state despite its outward appearances. As you've quoted from the "Atheism" section of it I may as well point out how its gone bad. It starts with "Einstein stated in his final letter: 'I am not an atheist.' " Citing the...

    Evidence for The Exodus

I'd hazard to say that the people that were there 8 years after Alexander for the siege of Antigonus in the 'New Tyre' as you would want to call it, were the same people that lived there before Alexander. Since they were the same people I would say that yes, Phoenicians rebuilt Tyre, and that...

    Evidence for The Exodus

Well that got dealt with really quick and went into its own circular round about of mutual inability to convince the other side that they're wrong. So now we're onto the *next* circular roundabout that always happens in these threads. We're working on our bonus points for retreading a tired old...
