  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Not necessarily. The Texas "stand your ground" laws allow you to defend your property with deadly force. They don't deny the "personhood" of the would-be thief, but do allow you to take a life to prevent harm to yourself or even your property. Similar arguments could be made for self-defense...

    Roe v Wade overturned

We couldn't afford a $20,000 private adoption when we were foster parents. After additional research, I agree there is plenty of capacity in the adoption system for healthy babies. I mostly worry about babies born to women with drug and alcohol abuse histories, or women who were unable to...

    Roe v Wade overturned

I never said it's common. That's why I'm calling for an exception, not a rule. Rape is one of the most under-reported crimes, so it's hard to trust the numbers out there, but they are still listed somewhere around 1%. That's 6,000+ women per year, probably more, that have to live with the...

Two??? Don't you mean three??? Or does the father have zero responsibility? What if pregnancy was forced on her against her will by a man she can't even identify? Or a man who is so abusive and controlling that she fears for her life if she doesn't sleep with him? Or a man that sweet-talked...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Well, women can only reasonably vote for the candidates on the ballot. Until 2016, when Hilary Clinton won the Democratic Primaries, there had only been 8 women on the Democratic primary ballot and 2 women on the Republican primary ballot in history. These are exit polls, so they don't tell...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Yeah, I think Child Support is pretty widespread if not universal in the states, and is enforced federally. That doesn't help if you don't know who your rapist is. Or if your case sits on the docket for a year while you are struggling to pay for prenatal care. Or if he doesn't pay and the...

Are you really surprised that the "Top 10 worst places to raise a child" happen to coincide with the "Top 10 countries with the highest abortion rates"? If you look at the number of women in government leadership, the list is poorly correlated to abortion: 1. Rwanda - 61% of parliament are...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Ok, I think I caught up with this thread. Abstinence and Birth Control are brought up as alternative choices to abortion, adoption, and motherhood. But someone brought up rape and the whole thread seemed to ignore it (unless I missed something). So let's cover that again. Are we saying that...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Gerri Santoro was 7 months pregnant and attempted to end her pregnancy in a hotel room with her adulteress to avoid conflict with her husband. That is hardly comparable to a legal husband and wife seeking an abortion in a hospital to save the life of the legitimate wife.

Changing Phases Of The Economic Crash

I stopped listening to the "prophet" after the first section on geophysical events. The worst tornado in recent history hit Joplin, MO on May 22, 2011, and had 200 mph winds, a far cry from his prophecy of 350mph. The highest water prices are still in Alaska, where it costs $95 a month. It...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Ugh, paywall, but I found it elsewhere. "The law allows anyone in the country to sue people who “aid and abet” someone getting an abortion once fetal cardiac activity is detected — which can occur as early as six weeks. The person suing would get a minimum of $10,000 if they won the case, but...

    Roe v Wade overturned

Laws only hurt if they are enforced. Who is going to press charges against the doctor for saving the mothers life? On the other hand, how quickly would a doctor be sued for malpractice for not performing a life-saving procedure? Until some vigilante prosecutor starts going after doctors who...

    Roe v Wade overturned

[Staff Edit] Now that it has been overturned, the highest court in the land says that women do not have a constitutionally guaranteed right to have an abortion. I guess you are right that it doesn't make having an abortion illegal, but it does open the floodgates for fundamentalists to sue...

    Roe v Wade overturned

I'm afraid it won't be enough. There are over 400,000 kids in the foster system right now. There are about 150,000 adoptions a year. Some of those are international and some are step-parent, so most kids are in the US foster system for around 4 years. There are already more kids than...
