  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Trump announces the Patriot Games.

I'm not seeing the point of this garden of heroes. There already is a statuary hall in the Capitol. And that one the states get to decide who they want to represent them. This list seems to have been hand picked by the President.

Anyone up for a chat thread?

I think I have been a member of a single church with air conditioning.

Pope elects new Cardinal after Cardinal Dolan Resigns.

My understanding is that Bishop HIcks hasn't been named a Cardinal yet, though the Archbishop of New York usually is.

    Shootings at Bondi Beach

Why is that obvious? There are plenty of CHristian antisemites.

OU Student given a zero for citing the bible in essay

I'm not sure I would have gone as far as a zero, but I definitely would have failed that paper just going off the rubric. While it appears that she has at least skimmed the article, there was no indication she actually understood it. Her response was driven by value judgements and not scientific...

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

The Coast Guard and FBI both authority over the high seas when it comes to enforcement of US law. The Coast Guard is also a military force, which while unique in the US actually isn't that uncommon in other countries. Those shootings are usually in self defense. The cops don't just shoot people...

Trump dispenses with trials, orders military strike on alleged Venezuelan drug-trafficking boat (Now up to 2, 3, 4...)

Yes, but the Coast Guard doesn't open fire unless needed. They always start with an arrest attempt. There has also been instances where Navy vessels have included Coast Guard personnel on board specifically for counter drug work, though I will admit to not knowing how common that is. @Aryeh Jay...

Trump terminates orders signed by Autopen during Biden administration

So, unless the pardon has restrictions attached to it, once it's issued it's permanent. But what I think Trump is attempting to do is say they were never valid in the first place. There is absolutely no legal precedence to retroactively voiding the actions of a President due to alleged...

Trump terminates orders signed by Autopen during Biden administration

The post also references "anything else signed by autopen." I'm pretty sure this is going after the pardons.

Judge dismisses James Comey and Letitia James cases, finding prosecutor's appointment invalid

James can still go through a trial. The case was dismissed w/o prejudice which means it can be refiled. It can even be refiled by Halligan as long she isn't pretending to be US attorney when she does so. Judge Currie even supported her decision to do so even though she had the power to bar the...

UK Supreme Court rules Northern Ireland's religious education requirement unlawful: Tantamount to 'indoctrination'

Technically, the UK doesn't have a state religion, but England does. The Church of England is established in England, but only in England. The Church in Wales, Church of Scotland (presbyterian not Anglican), Scottish Episcopal Church and Church of Ireland are not established churches. Also...

Democrats finally vote to open Government

Not what I asked. I asked if they had the power to. They did. The Democrats on the other hand had no power to pass the bill on their own. Thus, the Republicans owned the shutdown because they could have unilaterally avoided it. Ok? It's still a different bill then the one the House passed and...

Suspect Arrested In Connection With Attack On Alina Habba After Intense Manhunt

Who is "they"? From what I can find there is no information on the motivation behind his actions.

Democrats finally vote to open Government

Simple yes or no question. Regardless of potential consequences, did they have the power to modify the requirements for cloture and approve this bill with no cooperation from the Democrats? You right here are admitting they had the ability to address this. The amendments made to the CR were...

Democrats finally vote to open Government

True, though they could have limited the change to only apply to CRs. Nope, there was a choice. The other option wasn't palatable, but it was there. Whereas the Democrats working alone could not pass the bill. They voted for a CR. The CR that finally passed in the Senate was a different bill...
