  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I Am A Gay Man Living In America

Clearly I'm not speaking from a Biblical point of view, but I think the difference between an extramarital affair and homosexuality is that no one is hurt in a consensual homosexual relationship where-as cheating on someone is a breach of trust and is damaging to the other partner. (I'd also not...

All because it's pagan doesn't make it evil. ;)

    Pagan Holidays

I don't really have much holiday spirit, the two holidays I celebrate are Thanksgiving and Christmas, and only one of those two are pagan. I will have dinner with my family, and I will attend Christmas Eve service, and I'll do gift exchanging on Christmas. I do most of this due to family...

    Why are some people gay?

Still, God was a lot more 'pro-active' in the OT, and a lot more violent. Whenever I've read through the Bible it has always struck me to the degree that the people who wrote the OT had views entirely different than the NT writer's views on God. Well yes, naturally. Even in the OT though...

a quistion for the atheists [I come in peace :)]

Me too, when I deconverted I remember one case when a bunch of Christians started throwing some kind of nut (never figured out what it was) at my head chanting 'stone the heathen.' I love being an evil atheist though, I have to be 100x as loud to make up for all the evangelizing Christians! I...

    Why are some people gay?

God's nature changes in the Bible, the violent and warring God of Genesis and Exodus is not the same God of the New Testament. And he has shown that his nature is not immutable, he grieves, (Genesis 6:6, 7), he changes his mind, (1 Samuel 8:19), and he is angered (2 Kings 17:11). The typical...

Does God love the fetus ?

Agreed, the mother should never be ill informed. However the pictures that pro-life websites put up are not intended to be informative, they are intended to be sensationalizing and shocking. They are no more informative than if I showed someone with gangrene a gory picture of an amputated arm...

Does God love the fetus ?

I think you missed my point, no, the images are not shocking. That's the truth of many medical procedures, they don't look pleasant. Open-heart surgery can be terrible to look at, so can many kinds of surgeries. "Look at these terribly gruesome pictures don't you hate abortion now' just doesn't...

Does God love the fetus ?

I hate it when pro-lifers play the shock card. I could post gory pictures of open heart surgery, but that means nothing either.

    Why are some people gay?

The interpretation of God's nature and character differs from interpretation to interpretation though, and it is clear that God has done this in at least the case of the Pharaoh.

    Why are some people gay?

Why is it so hard to believe God is capable of causing people to sin? I'm not saying that gay people are in any way influenced or compelled into their sexuality, just that the idea isn't completely ridiculous from a theological perspective. Exodus 7 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have...

    Richard Dawkins

I see, and I actually think you are right! The attitude still exists today, Dawkins himself has the attitude. However where-as Newton's attitude was an awe for God's creation, Dawkin's awe is for the natural world and all its wonder, an awe I share. The attitude is definitely still in the...

Why Couldn't Jesus Have Been Married?

I don't think God's son came out of marriage. Personally I find it interesting, but the Da Vinci Code itself was a very poorly done book, and I've yet to read Angels and Demons or any of the other books that have supposedly made a better argument. I don't necessarily have a strong opinion...

Why view God as being double minded?

What about Exodus 32? Now leave me alone so that my anger may burn against them and that I may destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation." 11 But Moses sought the favor of the LORD his God. "O LORD," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out...

    Spiritual entities other than God.

A thought, the Old Testaments mention 'other gods' quite a bit. Was it speaking about them purely from a fictional perspective, or were they supposed to be literal spiritual entities (i.e. demons, or whatever.) I've never really researched that particular thing, and it caught my eye while I was...
