  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    A hypothetical question

I never called passion unloving. I call the murder of women and children unloving. I call destroying the world unloving. If people worship a God *only* because they want to reap rewards in the afterlife, then it's nothing more than spiritual prostitution. My "nasty little self?" Grow...

    A hypothetical question

All right, so it sounds like most of you would follow your conscience and the God you love, no matter the consequences. Now you know how non-Christians feel every day. We are constantly told that we will burn in hell for all eternity for following the wrong gods --the gods *we* love-- yet we...

    A hypothetical question

Not really. I'm saying that the good "God" was the rebel, and that He was cast into Hell by Satan. If evil is rewarded and good is punished, which would you chose?

    A hypothetical question

I've always wondered about this. Say, for the sake of argument, that the cosmic moral compass was inverted. Satan is the ruler of Heaven, making it is accessible only to those who lead evil, immoral lives. God is the ruler of Hell, and those who love Him and try to live a good, decent lives...

    The Passion

The actor who played Jesus was struck by lightning *TWICE* while filming the movie. Do you think Someone was trying to tell them something? ;) Edit: Oops, my bad. He was only struck once (it was one of the film's assistant directors that was struck twice). My apologies.

Is there any Christian denomination that...

I agree; I'm just asking if any Christians believe this, as well. I was raised in a Christian home, and death always seemed to be the predominant theme of the religion. :(

Is there any Christian denomination that...

...values Christ’s life and teachings more than his death?

    Is Christianity a cult?

Ummm, what? I have as much of a "name" as you do (unless your birth certificate reads "Isaiah 53"). What a bizarre comment....

    Is Christianity a cult?

No offense Isaiah, but that sounds really cult-like. IMO, one of the telltale signs of a cult is that its members are incapable of questioning their own beliefs--- just as you appear to be. It's kinda scary. :(

Quoting biblical passages instead of original thought

Well, I don't. I never read Scriptures when they are quoted in debate; I just skip right over it. IMO, that is the lowest form of argument possible, and I won't waste my time reading it.

    Is Christianity a cult?

What do you think? Here are a few warning signs of a cult: -Every cult has a single powerful human leader. Christianity: Jesus claimed to be God. -The cult leaders word, or teachings of the cult to become absolute truth. Christianity: The bible alone contains absolute truth...
