    Ministry of Condemnation

Hi Sunlover, Thanks! I think one of the reasons people even come to forums like this is to "debate" certain topics that are "close to home" for them. I think some are motivated by a desire to share with others things that really impacted them in such a positive way that they can't help but...

    Ministry of Condemnation

I think maybe some people do feel called to that type of ministry. Tit 1:9 in the CLV reads: ...upholding the faithful word according to the teaching, that he may be able to entreat with sound teaching as well as to expose those who contradict." I don't see anything wrong with "correction"...

    Female pastors....

How is that proof that God spoke to her? Eve did not say "God said TO ME". And the only record we have of what God said about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is that which was told to Adam before Eve was even in the garden. Why assume God spoke to her directly rather than assume...

My mistake. Sorry, I guess I scrolled down too fast and missed the name at the top.

    Female pastors....

Have I indicated that I believe Eve was lying? I'm not denying that Eve said this was what God said. I said we have no record of that other than her words to the serpent. And her words are not the same as that which was recorded of what God said to Adam. Can we at least agree on that? :confused...

    Female pastors....

I'm not confused. Nor did I say a word about "culture". Did I? I simply believe others have misunderstood and, therefore, misapplied Paul's words. That's all. I do not disagree with Paul when he said "a woman" should not be allowed to teach. It's simply my understanding of who that "woman"...

    Female pastors....

So then maybe we are both speculating. Because there is no record of God telling Eve anything about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, only what he told Adam before Eve was even in the garden with him. How far can we take that? Couldn't we say this is only what Moses said (assuming...

    Female pastors....

Certainly I could speculate that this is what God told her "word for word", but it would only be speculation, wouldn't it? Since we have no record of it apart from her conversation with the serpent? On the other hand, we have a record of what God told Adam. God told Adam: Gen 2:17 But of...

Eve even "added" to what God said. How can we not see Eve as a figure of the church, if Adam is a figure of Christ? Especially when Paul very clearly said that when he was talking about the wife submitting to her own husband, etc, that he was speaking "of Christ and the church"?

Where is the joke? Sarah and Hagar were real people, too. How does that preclude their story from being seen/understood "allegorically" (as it was by Paul)? Does it have to be one or the other?

    Female pastors....

Adam and Eve were "figures" of "Christ and the church". This is why Paul used them (and the husband/wife relationship) to teach about "Christ and the church". So, when it comes to "Christ" and "the church", who is "the man" and who is "the woman"? Does it have anything at all to do with one's...

Silly question? If 1 day is like 1,000 years to God,

I believe God uses the things that we can see (the sun, moon, stars, light, darkness, the heavens and the earth, etc) to teach us about things that we cannot see. I think that is what the creation accounts in Gen are about, rather than the creation of the physical universe itself.
