  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Discussion Knowing - How Can We Explain It?

Talitha, in the Genesis account of creation, God said "let there be light" twice: once the first day, and the other on the fourth day. Without doing theological gymnastics debating the chronology of the creation story, clearly there are two kinds of light. One we depend for the seasons...

    When Mindfulness Meets the Classroom

OP, you might want to recontextualize what you mean by "not suppose to be meditating"; off the top of my head I remember at least a dozen verses encouraging us to meditate in various ways, at various times.

Which Vow Would Be Valid/Which Promise Should Be Kept?

I don't think he minds either way. There are things we used to believe that we no longer believe, and things we used to do that we no longer do, and vice versa, in our life's journey. He knows that.

SpiritPsalmist, Franky67, thank you so much for your prayers! I'm just finally getting back on the saddle, literally and figuratively. As a cyclist I have a 250km charity ride this wknd and my fitness level isn't optimum yet. And work has also piled up at the office that I need to take care...

Is this a sin? Is that a sin? Am I sinning when I do this? or that?

Also add Rom 14:23, "......for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."

Sorry Franky, the Abrahamic Covenant is not the same as the Mosaic Covenant. That's Exegesis 101.

    Discussion Covenants

Sure, let's use Paul's examples, reiterating one that I previously posted, and not the full text, simply for brevity: Having abolished in his flesh (Jesus) the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances..." Eph 2:15 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to...

    Discussion Covenants

Yes he does, but so does Jesus. One of the problems we face in western Christianity is that we view Scripture through a Greek or Roman mindset, then seen through the eyes of Augustine, and through our denominational backgrounds such that we sometimes unknowingly see Jesus through the eyes of...

Absolutely not. It's completely new. But unfortunately the understanding of most evangelical believers today. And just like an old automobile that's no longer made by the manufacturer, a whole industry has sprung up in the church making spare parts on something obsolete that's no longer...

    Discussion Covenants

No. While the root word of 2319 may be from Strong's 2318, why didn't Jeremiah simply use that instead? All the other Scriptural references of new as from 2319 is a new king arose, a new wife, a new offering, etc, not a renewed king, or a refreshed wife. The Scriptural references for new as in...

    Discussion Covenants

I would be more inclined to say that the two covenants are as different as darkness is to light also. Jer 31...The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their...

The passage does not contain the word "new", and I'm familiar with the Greek for new, but other passages such as in Heb 8 it's "kainos"....and your point being? (I think we're dancing around the same mountain, but from a different perspective.).
