  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Prayer Vigil for Colorado Massacre

There is a prayer vigil for the Colorado massacre victims. It is local, but this blogger is calling for a nationwide prayer vigil. I think it is a good idea. Details here Prayers For Aurora » Pray, Post, & Encourage » Prayer Vigil for Colorado Shooting Victims

    How do I love people?

This is really hard, especially when it is someone we don't even want to like. In the book, More Valuable than Sparrows, the author talks about developing a Christ-like love for the people who hurt us. She says: The only way to find that love and truly move forward is to pray and to allow the...

    Lethal Self Deception

"Even if the Bible utterly forbids a thing, if your desire for it is strong enough, you will find a way to justify it. Lethal SELF-DECEPTION."-(Ken Raggio) I ran across this quote today and found it disturbingly true. I think it is worth discussing. I am very interested in learning how others...

    Knowing Gods will or not

If you are living for God, He will take care of you. He will guide you in the right direction.

Do Christian men fail at masculinity?

I think that many Christian men need to get more Biblical. God appointed the husband the head of the family, the spiritual authority for his wife and children. It seems that many "Christian" men don't want the responsibility. They are content to allow their wives run the household, let their...

    Knowing Gods will or not

He isn't gone. He is just waiting for you. And you are showing that you haven't left Him either because you are posting on here about it and obviously in distress. If you were one of my youth, I would suggest that you and the girlfriend take a break and that each of you take your own time to...

    Knowing Gods will or not

There is nothing to be afraid of. God loves you. It sounds as if you are living with your girlfriend. Is that accurate? That could be a part of what you experienced, what you have been feeling. The Bible is very explicit about how God feels about fornicators. Is she a Christian? I would say...

Which Bible Translation and Are Study Bibles Useful?

I typically use the NASB. It is basically the King James Version without all the thees and thous. And the King James is the literal translation. You won't go wrong with that decision.

    Advice in a confrontation

I notice that you did not mention your father. If he is not in the picture, then your mother's spiritual authority is her pastor. Can you talk to him? As your mother's God appointed authority, your pastor has a certain responsibility for her (and you - your family). It sounds like it is time...

    Knowing Gods will or not

We are not always going to do what we are supposed to do and God knows that. But you are right, the Jesus said that if we do not obey Him we will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. When we mess up, we are to repent. Approach God with a contrite heart and ask for forgiveness for the...

Do Christian men fail at masculinity?

I think she needs some spiritual depth. At the time she wrote that rant, she had no business marrying, Christian man or not. She is fostering a great deal of anger and bitterness which is apparent in the words and tone of her writing. It is obvious that she does not understand certain aspects...

    Where are we headed?

So, if you were standing before a murderer, would you tell them that unless they repent and are baptized that they will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven?

Wives submitting to their husbands judgement made in love

You are right, ultimately she can do what she pleases. But then she would be in rebellion and in direct defiance of the advisement of her God appointed authority (her husband). She will be disobeying God by disregarding her husband's guidance. That is what a lot of people don't understand...

    Where are we headed?

Thanks, Ark, got it. You are absolutely right. Many of these people are treading on very dangerous ground and one day they will stand in judgment for what they are posting on here, the people they are influencing. That is unsettling to say the least. Always, always, the best place for advice is...
