  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How to Dispose of Blessed Food and Other Items?

I think there is a fear of over intellectualizing stuff and going Thomas Aquinas on stuff. People don't seem to accept that some people just want to know why and they're not necessarily going to go nuts and legalistic about it.

SSPX Bishop Williamson Convicted for Denying Holocaust

Is it really a matter of opinion though when millions of people can testify to the fact that it happened, not in just one country but dozens? And not only Jews were victims of the Holocaust: those with congenital diseases, gays, gypsies, and Slavs were also specifically targeted.

How to Dispose of Blessed Food and Other Items?

Well, I could be wrong.:) That is just what is seems to me. I think the prayers said over the Pascha baskets are different though, since they are censed and everything. Anyway, I wouldn't be eating anything that's 15 days old!

How to Dispose of Blessed Food and Other Items?

That part I haven't heard an explanation for as much as ways to do it - but from what I can remember I *think* it is basically that any things that are blessed are usually set aside for holy purposes. Treating something that is blessed in a disrespectful manner like throwing it away with trash...

How to Dispose of Blessed Food and Other Items?

If it is blessed it should be disposed of in a fitting manner, which I think is being buried somewhere where it's not going to get walked over (the other, all purpose but probably a bit much thing to do would be to burn it). I think you could also put it out for animals to eat.

    sorry

Sorry I have been disruptive and accused all Catholics of the actions of a few the past few days on this forum.

    Why are there religions?

Have you ever actually talked to a religious person objectively instead of just assuming you know their motivations and everything from the start? I don't think about where I'm going when I die ever, and in fact I have no problem if in fact, when I die, I cease to exist. If that is how it is...

YES !!! They finally got him !!!

He was arrested while protesting poor working conditions and at a French company called Sodexo. Which is neither illegal or bad (unless, you know, unions and human rights are an evil gay liberal agenda)...

Ex-teacher pleads guilty to sex with teens

The analogy is completely flawed, the school board didn't find out and transfer the teacher to another school and cover it up. It's not the same and to to pretend so is deceitful. The leadership of the school didn't try to cover it up and allow more abuse to happen, the leadership of the church...

DNA egg swap prevents rare diseases in babies

Mitochondria aren't even technically human in any kind of way... they have their own seperate DNA and everything. When one of our cells reproduce, or when we have children, the only reason the new cells have mitochondria is because they piggy back on... our cells are basically like flower pots...

    how essential is asceticism?

Asceticism is not a religious work so much as it is a didactic method. It helps you to transform. It sounds like you are thinking of it like a law (IMO, how Catholicism makes it out to be). Like it is universally binding and immutable, the same for everyone. It's not in Orthodoxy as far as I...

How many people would go for this if they could?

Actually there is a lot to get. I'm not even talking about god AT ALL, I'm talking about putting your self in anothers' shoes - to see that we each have our own experiences and knowledge, and none of it is absolute or perfect. Which is a FACT. I'm not talking about beliefs or dogmas, or anything...

    the roman patriarchal see

I was just curious. Wouldn't the OCA Metropolitan be the Patriarch of the American church if everything was sorted out and followed normal procedure? I think we do need that... we also need a Valaam and an Athos of America too.

No homilies to last longer than eight minites.

After just a few short times at a Divine Liturgy western Catholic mass does seem a bit butchered to fit exactly into an hour every time I've gone. I can see exactly where bits were chopped off, moved around and everything was cut in half because people want to get to golf or whatever.
