  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Catholic's, at what point does it become the body? (2)

Acts 1:9 (NIV) 9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. I have to disagree with you about the blood and flesh shall not enter into Heaven, because when our Lord Ascended, He ascended entirely, his body and blood included. Additionally...

The Eucharist: Symbolic, Real Presence, Transubstantiation

Greetings! I realize this post already has been responded to, but I just had a few questions. I take issue with this part of what you said. Biblicaly speaking how can we say what the elements on early worship were? The most we get is that the believers came together and broke bread, which leads...

Catholics: what does Peter represent for you?

Greetings! I have two major issue with the petros/petra issue. The first is grammatical. As far as I am aware (and my I awareness is based on the word of others, seeing as I don't speak Koine Greek!) the grammar of the passage is that Jesus is still talking to Peter, he has not changed...

Catholics: what does Peter represent for you?

Hello! I would like to apologize in advance for the long post... I will only be addressing your issue with with succession, as my knowledge is limited in other areas (and I'm sure other faithful Catholics can address said issues!) Lets start with what the Lord says to Peter in Matthew 16 17...

    Why Sola Scripture is Rejected

That certainly is not at all bad! However, how can we know that our interpretation of scripture is correct? Take John 6 for example: 35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. 36 But as I told you...

    Non-Catholic leaning Roman Catholic

I know a lot has been said about the dangers of posting in this thread, but it is especially dangerous posting about such a general topic. Perhaps you could post specific questions you have (ie sola scriptura, the Real Presence, etc.) both here, and in the One Bread, One Body forum (I believe...

    wisconsin protests

From Archbishop Jerome Listecki (head of the WI Catholic Conference) "The Church is well aware that difficult economic times call for hard choices and financial responsibility to further the common good. Our own dioceses and parishes have not been immune to the effects of the current economic...

    The Assumption of Mary

There is one flaw with this argument: Rev 12:5 5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.” And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. Israel did not give birth to the One who rules the nations. Mary did. He is...

    The Assumption of Mary

Revelations 12 " 1 A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. 3 Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with...

    Saints

If we were to simply deny any teaching that pose a potential danger we lose several of the most central mysteries of the faith. The belief in the Holy Trinity poses the risk of polytheism, which has long been a charge leveled at Christianity by Muslims and many non-Christian faiths. The mystery...

    Purgatory?

Hrmmm this subject is not something I am particularly knowlegable about this subject. However especially when it comes to what Catholics believe, it is a safer bet to seek out what the Church officially teaches rather than what some website states. The Catechism of the Catholic Church does go...

Why pray to Mary- Catholic respones only!!!

Haha, I totally understand I hate wading through 40 pages to try to make sure you don't rehash old arguments. So lets get started... First I won't cover both topics, because they are both very large topics, and trying to cover them both in one thread will eventually get confusing. So lets...

Mary is not the Mother of God's Church

A fine question I can address right now. Acts 8:26-31 26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of...

    Crying Statue?

While I certainly do appreciate the your kind words about the Roman Catholic Church not being the beast, could you refer to us as Roman Catholics and not "Vatican Catholics." It would be about the same as calling Anglicans "Canteburians," or something along those lines. Pax Christi. :crossrc:
