Does God give Asperger's to some people so that they can get closer to Him?

Thank you Pete for the reply, which clarifies what you mean here. I was a bit antsi when I replied to several posts to this thread. While I agree that we have an enemy, I do believe personally that we are created good. In saying you imply that Aspieness (and autism) is a result of the fall...

Does God give Asperger's to some people so that they can get closer to Him?

My immediate reaction is why - but the title of the thread gives that answer. However, there is still a question in my mind which is expressed as how? at the moment. I might refine that answer once I have pondered this a bit more.

Single mum in need of emotional support

HI there I cannot really say too much to support, since I am over 60 and a fella. However, I do hear your cry. I am sure there are others on this forum who are better placed in age and gender to support you.

Does God give Asperger's to some people so that they can get closer to Him?

Yes I can see the desire to be upfront about this and that is good. However, the question of when to tell anyone is a moot one. My gut reaction is not to say initially, for then you are making the autism into more than it may be for him and for her. It is not something to be hidden, but is it...

Does God give Asperger's to some people so that they can get closer to Him?

Yes there is the tendency to take things literally which is an Aspie trait. However, I have recently become aware of how my alexithymia is affecting my ability to hear God in the small things of life. The Godincidents which provide the reassurance that God is near. A recent case where I missed...

    Forgiveness & Repentence

Yes - lack of emotions is seems to be something that occurs often for Aspies; it has a name - alexithymia. You might want to follow that thread and see where that leads you. Alexithymia seems to be a significant factor in the lives of many people on the spectrum.

Is Autism A Gift From God?

Thank you for the prompt reply. However, I do not get the thrust of the reply. How is ASD a gift? Your reply points to a page describing the different subtypes of ASD 1, 2 and 3. There is an emphasis on the Millennial Autism, and a suggestion of a link to brain injury (for ASD 2 and 3). I...
