  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

    Almost persuaded....

There is nothing inherently wrong with an emotional appeal. Sometimes such an appeal merely reflects a deep feeling or belief of a person who is unable to articulate the precise resons behind tht feeling or belief. The wife may be genuinely hurt by what she interprets as her husband's...

    Sad Change in Perspective

A fallacy is an error in thinking or reasoning, it is not an error in fact or belief. It involves "thought process"; therefore, it pertains to conclusions, not to the statements that form those conclusions. Furthermore, the word "fallacy" usually applies to conclusions that appear sound and...

    Almost persuaded....

Man is an emotional animal. This is often to the good. Without emotions our lives would be hopelessly drab and boring. But in reasoned argument, the emotions often get in the way. They blind us from seeing clearly and from thinking objectively. Our emotions can trick us; because of them, we...

LDS's Orson Pratt and vegetable spirits

The Vatican Council anathematizes those who assert that the substance or essence of God and of all things is one and the same, or that all things evolve from God's essence (Denzinger-Bannwart, "Ench.", 1803) which is basically what the Mormons are saying. It has often been claimed that...

    the apostacy

If that is what you call apostacy, why didn't Jesus call it apostacy when he addressed the seven churches in the book of Revelation? Jesus never said he had a problem with His church being comprised of seven churches - why do the Mormons argue with Jesus? FYI, The church of Jesus Christ...

    Is your God from Kolob?

TOm, are you aware that you contradict the Mormon Prophets? "When the Prophet speaks the debate is over". N. Eldon Tanner, August Ensign 1979, pages 2-3 "This sort of game is Satan's favorite pastime, and he has practiced it to believing souls since Adam. He {Satan} wins a great victory...

    Was Adam an angel?

This revelation came from ... ??? whom ??? where ??? why ??? The Bible teaches that Adam was made a little lower than "angels" (or "God") at his creation and "crowned with glory and honor" (Psalm 8:5). He was commissioned as a vassal king to rule over God's creation. The words "subdue, "...

    Was Adam an angel?

Although holy, angels could sometimes behave foolishly (Job 4:18), and even prove to be untrustworthy (Job 15:15). Is that NOT "free will", qualities that led to the "fall" of some angels, including Satan?

    Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

On March 20, 1826, Joseph Smith was brought to trial for deceiving people into thinking he could find buried treasures by looking through a certain stone. He was charged court costs of $2.68 by Justice Albert Neely. (Fraser's Magazine, February, 1873, Vol. VII, pp. 229-230). :rolleyes...

Will the real Jesus please stand up?

Jesus Christ is not the salvation of the Mormons because His salvation is a GIFT to those who believe in His name(John 1:12). His name is not the name of the Mormon Jesus. His name is not "the Brother of Lucifer/Satan" and His name is not "the Son of Lucifer/Satan's Father" (Gospel Principles...

    Praise to the Man!

Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum fled to Iowa to avoid arrest, but they were accused of being cowards and urged to return to save Nauvoo from the possibility of destruction. They finally went to Carthage, Illinois, where they were arrested for destroying the printing press. The Smiths were...

    Praise to the Man!

I understand Mormonism, that is why I renounced my faith in that organization in 1980. Let's be honest here. Mormonism teaches that: "If it had not been for Joseph Smith and the restoration, there would be no salvation. There is no salvation outside the Church of Jesus Christ of...

    Praise to the Man!

Joseph Smith boasted that he did more than Jesus to keep a church together. Joseph Smith said the Book of Mormon was more correct than the Bible. Joseph Smith made a false prophecy. Joseph Smith said mothers have babies in eternity and some are on thrones. Joseph Smith said there are many...

    Praise to the Man!

The History of the Church contains some statements which show that Joseph Smith felt he was almost equal with God: I am a lawyer; I am a big lawyer and comprehend heaven, earth and hell, to bring forth knowledge that shall cover up all lawyers, doctors arid other big bodies (vol. 5, p.289)...
