  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Spiritual health of Catholics as compared to protestants.

I've been wondering about and struggling with these same thoughts too. I see this happening, where Catholics seem to have no joy, including myself sadly I have been pulled into this side of it, but I think it's all a lie, an attack from "the evil one" to distort everything and lead people away...

What are you giving up for Lent?

Music, TV/movies, Shopping. Things that are distractions or that I've recently been too much attached to. I hope to read and write more, do things that I often neglect. Even if it's not something spiritual/focused on God, such as reading a book for fun, at least I will still be in silence, as...

    Fasting?

I know we have to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, but this is something I feel like I can't do because of some health problems. I was wondering if anyone knows what excuses a person from being required to fast? I was thinking I would still eat the same amount as I always do, but give up...

How do you have faith still with anti catholic ideas out there?

I have an online friend who became Catholic this Easter, then left in the summer. We sent each other messages through out RCIA and it was great! So it totally surprised me when she said she was leaving and that Catholics are wrong, and not biblical. She said she wasn't going to become...

All Saints Day? & All Souls Day?

See if there's any Mass available on Monday if that could be better for you? If you can skip a class though, I'd just do that. Hope everything works out for you somehow. :)

All Saints Day? & All Souls Day?

All Saints Day - November 1 - is a Holy Day of Obligation, right? So that means we have to attend Mass on that day? I've seen some churches list times for Monday, if someone went on that day, is that accepted? October 31st for November 1st? Kind of confusing to me. Also is All Souls Day a Holy...

What's the best thing about Catholicism

Nuns and sisters and Mother Angelica, yeah!!! :D Mother Angelica is amazing, definately a part of why I became Catholic. I also love how there's always a Catholic church around somewhere.

the worst thing about being Catholic

My biggest fear is to die with an unconfessed mortal sin. - Me too! I can always find something that convinces me I will go to hell. - Me too. Sometimes when I study more, I always end up fearing more, and feeling a bit hopeless. I also love the Fatima prayer, that's one of my favorite...

What's the best thing about Catholicism

    - Suffering having much meaning and value. Being able to love God through it. Hope in everything. Grace in everything. - The examples and lives of the saints. You can love God more deeply, and be more devoted when you have the saints there to help you and their lives to bring you closer to God...

the worst thing about being Catholic

Worst thing, like others have said, is how much people are against the church, and even though I was a protestant before, it's hard to explain to others what the church really teaches, when they can be so good at using the "bible alone" to say the church is "wrong and a cult." Makes me sad. I...

A lot of people do faint in the RCC...

Strange to come on here and read this when recently a few weeks ago I fainted and had to have stitches, and I feared fainting again if I were to go to Mass... missed it recently since I've been recovering. I fainted in my house due to some health problems. Was scary!

    Doubt and atheism....

I've gone through times like this and even just recently my past thought of "What if God isn't even there?" was coming up to haunt me too. But if I think of it, I think I would rather want God there than not. I'd rather be a Catholic than not. Even if He is not really real (if that were to be...
