  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it even worth it to go to counseling?

Depends on who you go to for counselling and what their remit is. In the end, Christ is the wonderful counsellor. No one else will do. Only he, by his holy spirit, can fathom the depths of our minds. Only he has the authority to speak into our lives. Anyone else is not even second best...

    Can vaccinations cause autism?

I have high functioning Autism, I'm 48 and have only recently discovered this condition. My mother told me that I had a reaction to one of my childhood vaccinations. Was my Autism caused by this vaccination? All the serious medical evidence so far says no. However, there is another...

10 things adults with autism wish you to know.

These are good questions. The answers are never simply. But it has to be said that sin is definitely involved at some level whenever there are relationship problems. Every single one of us is a sinner - we all sin, autism or no. Autism brings with it particular challenges and bias towards...

    Studying JOB

Job has become a very important book in my life. I've struggled for years to understand it. It does not seem to answer the questions. But through my recent personal struggles, God has shown me some of the deeper meanings in this book. For instance: 1. The key issue at stake in Job is not...

Why Do Christians Need the Old Testament?

The New is in the Old concealed. The Old is in the New revealed. To read the New Testament without the Old Testament is to work in a spiritual, historical and literary vacuum. Jesus quote the Old Testament and considered it authoritative.

10 things adults with autism wish you to know.

I cannot agree with a lot of it. Of course, there must be fundamental self-acceptance. But the can't change, won't change attitude does not sit well before Christ. As a Christian, my attitude must be that unless Christ works in me, I will not be able to change. But Christ is at work in me...

    Autism partially curable

Well said drifter. I think the whole basis of this discussion is unsound because the causes of autism are (as yet) unknown. There are lots of theories, but they are not proven. The most likely causes are brain abnormalities, but even this is uncertain. If the condition itself is not...

    neurological disorder/ difference.

If our brains are not normal, that makes autism a physical disability - the fault is in the hardware, not the software. I consider there is a significant difference between a problem in the brain and a problem in the mind. Having said that, I think most people would look for autism under...

    Confused about people who Prophesy

A Prophet in the biblical swense is someone who is God's Mouthpiece. That is someone who is used by God to speak to people. I have heard prophecies in Church, some are good, some not so. I have prophecied myself. Trouble is I am imperfect; I don't always get it right. But that is not for...

    Why Didn't God Destroy Satan?

I was reading Revelation today. If I'm not much mistaken, Satan will be destroyed. For us, that is a matter of timing. But God is outside of time - being the creator of time. In Revelation, we read about the dragon and the beast etc. We also read about plagues etc being poured out at God's...

doed any1 else feel like this?

Hello, I suffer from High Functioning Autism and am self-employed. I really struggle to motivate myself some days. I know all the things I need to do to get on with my business, but cannot seem to get down to doing them. For me, this is one of the biggest barriers. The other one is social...

witnessing - why is it so hard???

I suffer from High Functioning Autism, and I find Witnessing very difficult. However, I think everyone finds it hard. It is not just a social exercise, but a spiritual one. Even people who are really good at it had to learn how to witness, and how to improve. I was greatly helped by a book...

    Autism Info

I don't see any reason to be insulted by people who offer possible help. However, that help needs to be well-founded and backed up by clear medical research. Unfortunately, this all takes time - maybe several lifetimes. So, it is definitely premature to claim anything substantive. If there...

    Autism Info

There are a lot of diverse groups that claim this... one treatment or another... yet there is no solid basis for any of these claims. I believe that we may start to be able to help people when the true causes of autism are properly understood. That is not the case at present, though there is a...

    Hello

One of the problems with these tests is that I could answer a lot of the questions in different ways; they do not have clear-cut responses. This is mainly because I've developed coping mechanisms. For instance, do I enjoy meeting new people? - I've learned to 'enjoy' it to a degree. I've...
