CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
ACADEMIC
I have worked as a missionary in three Central American countries, Haiti, and Micronesia, and as a college instructor.
I did not have a GED until I was 32 but acquired it and then graduated highest in my class from a top Honors College, then obtained a Master's degree in social sciences from a large Canadian university. I also hold certificates in missions and Bible.
I have been married since 1992, to an MK and 11-year cancer survivor. We have three children. I am currently doing an overly-deserved sabbatical in the U.S. I am hoping to return to missionary work in 2007, or else begin a doctorate program.
I am of Jewish heritage and was adopted into a family of German heritage. I know a lot about my biological parents and siblings but have never met any of them. That's all a long story you can feel free ask me about, if you are interested.
My theology is conservative (with appopriate openess) but I am a decided non-conformist.
