  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Erika Kirk Rejects Revenge for Husband's Killer

I view everything with the idea that things are always more than they seem. I can believe that the killer's defense team will make Erika's forgiveness a central part of their defense strategy. And I can envision them putting her on the stand and misrepresenting God's Word to goad her into...

Erika Kirk Rejects Revenge for Husband's Killer

My fear is that her forgiving of the killer will be used by the defense during the sentencing stage after the killer's conviction to ask for a lightened sentence. What Erika should have done after forgiving the killer was to followup by saying she accepts the appropriate punishment that would be...

    Lordship Salvation is hideous

Unless this is pretty clever AI, and these days you can't trust anything anymore, this video is the definitive statement by Pastor MacArthur about his coming out for Calvinism. But, it also reveals something about Pastor that I find extremely disturbing. I've been a long-time listener of...

    Lordship Salvation is hideous

That was interesting. But, once again, Pastor was making a perfect case for growing in the Lord (sanctifcation) after salvation (justification). I'm glad the interviewer asked him the question that's always on my mind after listening to Pastor, "How do you know that you've done enough of the...

    Lordship Salvation is hideous

That's about as clear an argument against Lordship salvation as I've seen. I'm surprised it came from Paul Washer. I wonder if in the rest of the video following that there's a "but."

    Lordship Salvation is hideous

You're right of course. I just assumed everybody would know that's what I meant.

    Lordship Salvation is hideous

I think a lot of the confusion about Lordship Salvation would be cleared up if it was properly called Lordship Sanctification. IOW, do relevant passages in Scripture refer to justification (salvation), or to sanctification (growing in the Lord toward the goal of earning position and rewards in...

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces resignation

LOL. Trudeau is going nowhere. He prorogued Parliament, which is not expected to resume again until March 24. In the meantime, Trudeau is going to be a one-man wrecking ball, just like the corpse that resides (barely) in the White House is systematically attempting to sabotage Trump's upcoming...

Looking for a men's Bible study

I'm thinking now that what I was envisioning in my head that I thought I wanted probably isn't going to work for me IRL. Basically, I miss the in-person men's fellowship that I enjoyed at a former church. I'm not in the position now to find it locally where I live, but I also don't think now...

Looking for a men's Bible study

I was thinking email because I wouldn't want to conduct this Bible study in the public forum. A private, by-invitation-only room would work, but I don't see where they have those here. Any suggestions? I guess DMs would work if you wanted to keep it within the forum.

Looking for a men's Bible study

Thank you Aaron. I have a stack of Bibles, study aids, concordances, etc., that is literally more than two feet high. Not to mention many gigabytes of teachings saved on my computer. What I was hoping to find was a connection with a few like-minded guys here where we could pick passages or...

Looking for a men's Bible study

I'm not sure whether this is the right place to ask this, but I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a small men's group that I can find online, but participate with offline, for fellowship and Bible study. I'm thinking maybe a dozen like-minded mature men to read select Scripture with and...

    The Rapture Event

In the Latin Vulgate version of the Bible the equivalent of harpazo is rapiemur, which is translated as carried away.

    The Rapture Event

Timing is everything. What helps me in understanding Scriptures about Christ's return like Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, for example, is knowing whether verses apply to Christ's return Part 1, for the catching up of the church, or Part 2, Christ's triumphant...

    A chicken analogy of salvation

Something happened the other night, and it's made me think there's a deeper meaning to what took place. We keep chickens for eggs. They are really more like pets. I prepare special meals for them, and enjoy giving them treats. I protect them from predators. There is no lack of raccoons, foxes...
