American Missions, or the Lack there of

There are always volunteer positions sure. But for actual work nothing unless you are ordained or have taken some kind of business school. Considering taking my dad up on his offer as perhaps a non teaching position. Like a security guy or cook. Unfortunately most of what is around me is GOA...

American Missions, or the Lack there of

Yet not much has changed in the way of that in the last 100 years. From what I've heard the OCA isn't doing that well. At what point will the American church be saved from international politics. How much longer will the fate of overseas countries determine ours? We can't even unify...

American Missions, or the Lack there of

So why do we not have more support? If the Moscow Patriarchate can afford to construct 100 cathedrals in Moscow, then why can't it afford to help its foreign ministries? Same goes for the Greeks. I see much talk of foreign missions (mostly to already Orthodox countries ), but little to...

American Missions, or the Lack there of

My Father recently offered me a position in a Protestant drug rehabilitation center in WV as an intern. While I know I can't really take a role in a place whose beliefs I don't share, it got me looking into similar work. I was suprised to find only one or two similar places in the country while...

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

Not very specific. What part of my statement specifically have you found to be factually innacurate and worthy of sarcasm?

Which came first: Adam or the Child Adam?

Stature doesn't necessarily mean height, but can imply position or authority. I think in reference to that is merely that as he grew his physical form grew to match the authority he already bore. But like you said. Small things.

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

You are criticizing Paul and the Apostles as much as the early church. Just look at the first council of Jerusalem in acts. They all settled on an opinion, and those who did not were no longer allowed within the assembly. Theorize and look for solutions all you want. But the Apostles made it clear.

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

You can believe it or not, but Antioch was the head of the church at that time and Ignatius was hand picked by the apostles and other elders to take that role and lead. We are commanded by Paul to follow the Church elders and obey their teachings that they have passed down. You are correct...

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

So the curse is an automatic response to accepting heresy... Then why is it controvertial for a church member to state it matter o factly? If a person is a heretic they shouldn't be in communion with the church. Unity of the assembly is an important part of what Paul teaches. Anathemization is a...

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

How is there any difference between stating that those who teach another gospel are under a curse, and pronouncing a heavy curse? Let's not forget Paul was instructing the church in proper procedure here, not just rambling. He was teaching how the church should react to heresy, just as he said...

Can You Be a Christian and Deny the Trinity?

The term "catholic" was coined by St. Ignatius of Antioch, who was one of the children who came to Christ during his ministry and was one of John's disciples, selected to be the third Elder of the Church of Antioch. He also wrote about Communion being the actual body and blood of Christ (before...
