  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I literally just watched a video last week of some right winger getting pelted with various bottles of various liquids and cornered in the streets by 100+ people, the progressives cheered, laughed, and made memes out of it because they didn't like him, but are now acting like they're "horrified" by what happened to Omar.
What Congressional District is he the Representative for?

Some of us were aware of him before. Here is some of his work:

Even among Jan6ers, Jake Lang (with bat and shield) is a dirtbag.
Look, just because he attacked the police and tried to murder the Vice President and Speaker of the House while the President cheered them on, is no reason to assume the right is violent when they don't get their way.

Everybody has a bad day now and then.

A guy attacks a US Representative and somehow, heaven knows how and heaven knows why, you have managed to work in feminist and trans ideology into most of your posts. Look, if you want to start a thread on it to get something off your chest, than do so. I'll not be the slightest bit interested but at least this thread won't be derailed any further.
Read post #4 and catch up to the conversation.

Is this worse than shooting people dead in the street?
That's not meant as some kind of justification but this just seems like the Trump supporting rag digging around for something and coming up with some crazy suggestion made by someone on social media that no one sane would act on.
Trump gets shot by real bullets. Omar gets shot with vinegar. So which side is truly more violent and hateful?

It is premeditated; the ICE actions are not.

A lot of these protesters are unhinged or criminals.

Some say evidence of extremism on both sides is off topic I guess.

Yeah, take away Jan 6th and what do liberals have?

Just a fill in on this guy. He was convicted of attacking an officer with a baseball bat on Jan 6. Served 1200 days before, no surprise here, getting pardoned. And instrumental in setting up NAPALM - North American Patriot and Liberty Militia. Quote from here: A January 6 Rioter Is Leading an Armed National Militia From Prison

'...the group is, at its core, a pro-gun organization. “We are pro open carry, pro always have it on you, rather than waiting for somebody else to be able to defend your life,” says Lang.'

I think some people should think on that last quote. Anyway, he and 10 or 11 'influencers' were going to stage an anti Mulim, anti Somali protest in a strongly immigrant area. Now, there are two opinions you could reach concerning that. Either he's an idiot (what's that popular phrase currently? Ah, yes. Play stupid games, win...something or other). Or he was hoping for a confrontation. Seeing he was wearing a protective vest, then my vote goes to the latter.

So, don't know about you, but I think there's a not so subtle difference in someone going out looking for trouble so he can get a few more views on his channel - and surprise, surprise finding it. And an elected official being assaulted whilst doing her job.

Your mileage I'm sure will vary.

But does "provocative", or intentionally showing up somewhere to make trouble and try to make some sort of point, justify a mob beating?

In numerous other threads, there are ample examples of left-wing people who are clearly looking for trouble, and when they find it, the reaction tends to be "doing X doesn't warrant a response of Y".

That's where the partisan disconnect is.

They're all clearly looking to be conspicuously confrontational...

However, people tend to categorize it as:
"When it's my side, they're just impassioned about something and taking it to the streets to exercise their freedom of speech and to protest"
"When it's someone from the other side, they're just looking for trouble"

Let's just be real...they're all looking to make trouble.

The days of "polite civil protest" are dwindling.

"I'm just looking for a nice calm way to express my displeasure with the current political state of affairs" -- said no one ever who opts for a ski-mask and backpack full of things to throw.

There are nut cases on bothsides but one has more.

I don't know that one has more, they just have different kinds who escalate things to different degrees.

It's like asking
"Would you rather live in this neighborhood that has 2 murder per year, or would you rather live in this other neighborhood that has no murder, but has 200 arsons per year"

That's always an interesting thing to ponder.

At what volume/frequency does "lesser crimes" add up to being worse than a lesser frequency of a more serious crime.

I'm sure she could have gotten a few good punches on him.
Before getting knocked unconscious, if the guy wanted to. But more than likely, he would have just laughed as she just slapped him around a few times.

Neither is good. I guess I have to move to the country where I'm less likely to have my civil rights violated.

At no time. I think the way we classify crime is acceptable. What you remind me of above is people going to jail for speech. I don't think speech should be a crime, but enough sensitive people whined about it.

They just made everything else happen. That is the point. Without Jan 6th, liberals have nothing, let's say, within the last 40 years.
Except the murders of Minnesota legislators, church shootings, synagogue shootings, gurdwara shooting, Planned Parenthood shootings, racist shootings, homophobic shootings, abortion bombs, Oklahoma City bombing, Boogaloo murders, Unite the Right murder...

Let's not do that. We've already gone through all that with the Charlie Kirk shooting. We discovered rhe government has a tendency to only count certain things when tabulating violence. Right wing violence according to government statistics has been higher than left wing violence. But when we take into account the things the government doesn't we find that left wing violence is more, particularly over the 15 years or so. I posted information regarding left wing violence in the Charlie Kirk thread of much of the violence perpetrated by the left. Its a big list. Most of it not counted by the government due to how they rate these things. Who's worse? Depends on when you are talking about. Right now? The left is absolutely beyond any doubt rhe more violent group and has been for a number of years now. And its going to get worse.

At least this guy was spraying vinegar and not bullets.
