  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe. You’re missing my point that the Guard shouldn’t have been there at all this whole time and here we see why. People have been warning for months that this is an improper use of the National Guard. They aren’t trained in law enforcement. They’re mostly trained to respond to disasters and national emergency type situations. Using them like props around the city carries a certain risk and this is one of them.
You should look up what all the national guard is trained to do, before making claims about it. Those in the National Guard receive police training. There are also a significant number of law enforcement officers who also serve in the national guard.
They’ve been needlessly put in danger all for the optics of military occupying our streets.
Any place or situation that's not safe for even the military, needs to have the military present.

If this is true its just another example of Islamic lies in order to gain entry into thia country.
Then what is your post? Another example of Christian lies in order to paint a different religious/ethnic group as being evil and unworthy of living here?

The guy worked for the CIA. I’d think that would justify fears of retaliation by the Taliban. But please keep on jumping to conclusions.

The NG aren’t doing any law enforcement work in the Capitol. They are literally just standing around, like expensive props.

I guess that helps you feel a bit safer? It clearly hasn’t made the city any safer.

What fear? I thought he was granted asylum

Yes - the accusation was that his asylum application being accepted was "another example of Islamic lies in order to gain entry to this country."

The post to which I was replying claimed that the basis for his asylum claim was an “Islamic lie.” I would say that working for the CIA would be sufficient to fear retaliation and establish credible justification for asylum.

His friend had been denied asylum by President Trump.

According to the CBS article, his friend died in 2024, so while it’s possible that he was denied by Trump, it seems unlikely to me that he was denied by only Trump.

Trump let the shooter in.
No, he didn’t.

Pope Leo wants us to pray for people suffering under the heavy burden of despair.

Not all suicides are obvious ones.....

I am going to guess that this Afgan citizen lost all hope, because he was going to be greatly outnumbered and most likely killed
So he decided he'd just murder a couple people. And we're supposed to feel sorry for him?

How do you know he wasn't secretly passing information to the enemy? This kind of behavior is rampant in the Islamic community. They are the most dangerous group in the world today. They consistently use whatever grievance they have as an excuse for violent actions. Islamists are very dangerous and violent.

I would presume that part of his admittance to the country involved some sort of vetting. Given that he ran a specops group working with a variety of western forces against the Taliban, feeding info to the enemy strikes me as unlikely, unless, I suppose, the Taliban started paying better than the Americans.

Either way, I don’t know anything about the guy other than what’s been reported in the press - just like you don’t either. Everything about his “Islamic lies” and his status as a double agent is 100% conjecture on your part.

All perps have a motive, for which good detective work will seek to find.

D.C. National Guard shooting suspect identified as Afghan national who had worked with CIA. Here's what we know.

According to the article cited above, he was deeply troubled by the death of his friend by the Taliban.
You've been watching too much Colombo. In this case, no detective work was needed, as the suspect was caught red handed, and running from the scene of the murder he was witnessed committing.

The sentence is is what comes next, along with what we do as a nation with the onslaught of Islamism in our country.

...But don't worry! I have an idea on what to do.

Trump blames Biden for everything that goes wrong during the Trump administration.
There's really no need to blame either Trump or Biden. It's not our fault as Americans what's happening.

I see no reason to blames them either.
No. We blame "it". The thing that causes problems everywhere, while never solving anything.
