  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don’t know what to think about this action but there appears to be a wide link to Middle Eastern terrorism and the Venezuelan cartels.

Capitalists?

Why not legalize everything and let Darwin take its course.
Sick..! That's really sick.

Some people die because some idiot mixes fentanyl in a less lethal drug, and they unknowingly ingest it - and your response is without any empathy, and in favor of their death... For such an insensitive response, you should feel ashamed.

Do they need to? Let's say a boat load of jihadists were coming with a bunch of bombs to blow up Americans and we caught them on the high seas, do you think we have to know their names before blowing them up?
How do we know that that boatload of folk actually are jihadists? How do we know they have a bunch of bombs? How do we know they are heading towards America? It would help to know their names to be sure that they are what you're claiming they are.

Certainly you remember that it's not what goes INTO our body that is a sin but it is what comes OUT.

You could certainly argue they are unhealthy and bad for us....but "evil" ain't it.
Baloney.

So if I put some botulinum toxins in all my friends food, and eat some myself, you think that's not a sin? Yeah..! It is..!

Back in the 80s, America traded guns for drugs (thanks, Ollie!) for the Iran-Contra wars. Perhaps America is directly responsible for the creation of the Salvadorian gangs and increased drug use in the US.

Yes, we must keep the drug war going! That way we can have all the ills of drug abuse and all the ills of the illegal drug trade! Much better.

You poisoning your friends without their knowledge and consent = sin.

I agree.

How is that relevant?

Doesn't start to seem like some folks only need to FEEL justified without ever having to BE justified.

I wasn't really following this story that closely. What evidence has been made public to justify this action? Is it a boat registration thing? Did they see it get loaded up with drugs?
Do they have named? What drug?

Dragging the example out would this mean selling what the customer wants, coke, heroine, isn’t the problem but the adulteration of it with other unwanted substances?

There are many angles to this conversation, but one very important one is this...

A family man who snorts coke on weekends every now and then accidentally buys pure powder fentanyl from someone on the street... And dies instantly.

Coke is bad, no doubt. But the man didn't deserve that kind of death. Some of your comrades think it's okay if that happens - I don't.

Yes, the Secretary "of War" needs to confirm he killed 11 "Narco-Terrorists". He claims to have known who there were.

Prove it.

Let's see their names and alleged crimes. All eleven of them.

It's exactly what the people who voted for Trump wanted to happen, so that was a feckless warning.

Make no mistake: The United States has gotten precisely the government that the majority in the US wanted.

I disagree. I think there are people who voted for Trump who do not want our military committing murder on the high seas.

Nobody committed homicide.
Executive Order 12333 prohibits assassinations, providing that “No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination.” Under executive branch legal doctrine, “assassination” is understood to include the targeted killing of individuals. (The Uniform Code of Military Justice also of course criminalizes murder.)

Did the junkie living on the street deserve it? I'd say the family man is more to blame as he puts his whole family's well-being at risk, knowing that his coke may be undoubtedly is spiked with something even if he just hopes it's powdered milk.

If anything, this scenario is an argument in favor of decriminalizing but heavily regulating recreational drugs - less chance of poisoning. But others here have argued that all drugs are poison therefore all drug sellers are narcoterrorists. It's a bad argument.

Yet you called the solution to that problem, legalization, sick.

That would be legalizing not decriminalizing.

It seems most people are of the opinion that drug traffickers are killing Americans.

Well, private health insurance companies are also killing and maiming Americans. And they are doing so WITHOUT the consent of the person who is dying.

What is the appetite for extra-judicial killings of Insurance company employees?

We're all Luigi fans here I assume?

The private health insurance companies make the best decisions that give the best outcome to both the insured and the shareholders.

No, the junkie on the street doesn't deserve to die either - he's just a victim who doesn't stand a chance against what he's up against.

I think all fentanyl dealers should recieve life sentences without parole. Smugglers should recieve the death penalty.

Smugglers should recieve the death penaltym

Or just shoot the suspected smugglers on the street. Why bother detainting and prosecuting alleged criminals? if the government declares one to be a "narco terrorist", that is sufficient. ....or so some seem to be arguing here.

No. But in international waters, I don't care if they're killed. And it's because they're bad, evil people if they're peddling fentanyl.
