When I was a teen I didn’t get anyone pregnant. Plenty of people didn’t. They know that condoms and birth control are, which they can get from somewhere other than Planned Parenthood.

I’m opposed to PP because they are the nations largest abortion provider. I cannot in good conscience condone them.

Peace
The argument is that teens should be punished for having terrible common sense and not using birth control when they get pregnant.

They are both mature and wise enough to be saddle with a baby and all of the life choices that go along with that, and idiots because rhey couldn't make such a basic common sense decision.

No, I don’t think they should be punished. That wasn’t my argument at all. Even teens are aware of what condoms and birth control are. Or even not having sex at all. Punishing the unborn child shouldn’t be an option, and I will die on that hill.

Highly doubtful
Religious rights are on the upswing. And the segregation academies started by Rev. Falwell and the like were predicated on religious grounds.

I guess we'll see.

Here's the thing.

Kids born to disconnected ambivalent parents who dont want them, THAT is a punishment. A lifetime of punishment for some.

It's not a punishment if you dont experience it

So? Self control in teens is still a thing. Having raging hormones doesn’t automatically excuse them. Good grief.
Excuse them? Why is there always a moral crime being committed and subsequently criticised on this site?

It’s not about excuses: it’s about the statistical reality that teenagers will (as a cohort) have sex more often and less safely than adults.

Expecting teens to have self control is like expecting Americans not to shoot each other; it would be great but it isn’t ever going to happen.

You can’t ban sex anymore than you can ban guns.

I was never talking about banning sex because that’s literally impossible, good grief, but better education is needed.

Why shouldnt we expect teens to have self control?
Because they have raging hormones? Somehow that makes it ok? I really don’t know, eh?

This has nothing to do with the thread. Brown vs board of education, that is.

The NRA spends a lot of of money on gun safety, and there are still accidents with guns. Would you be open to federal tax dollars being required to support the NRA?
They used to. The NRA's spending on safety has decreased 77% using that money instead to lobby for the increase of guns sales and of course Wayne LaPierre's lavish lifestyle.

Again, 97% of plan parenthood's funding goes towards women's health in general, what the NRA does is not even close to the same.

Their brains are nowhere near fully developed. Do you know anything about developmental biology?

What unplanned parenthood? Don't want to be pregnant? Don't have sex. Simple.

Banning sex was never brought up but clearly your point is that the problem is solved by expecting teens to not have sex. Which I think I have rebutted quite adequately.

Some teens don't. Some teens believe completely wrong things concerning contraception.

What do you think of states/schools with abstinence only education?

They can have self control regardless. Raging hormones doesn’t automatically mean they can’t, but I understand what you’re saying, regardless.

Still don’t think planned parenthood as an organization is necessary.

So? That doesn’t mean they are like raging animals that have no control over their instincts.

It can do. I remember my teenage years (before I became the paragon of self control and discretion you see before you). I made some downright crazy sexual choices when my hormones were a raging.

Didn’t you?

I didn’t since I’ve always been single, regardless, I don’t care what people do in their bedroom because it’s private.

I don’t think abstinence only education is helpful, no.

Do you believe that the non-abortion services that planned parenthood offers (for example HIV tests, pregnancy tests and planning, STD testing and marriage counseling) should be picked up and paid for by medicaid when provided by a different venue?
