Then if it isn’t your problem. It seems you are saying, you do not care that they are doxed and threatened?
Correct. These agents are all armed and well trained. If doing their job is too dangerous for them, that isn’t my problem. Pick another career.
Is that accurate
That is accurate. Their safety is their problem. Californians’ safety in dealing with these federal agents is my problem.

But what if those ICE agents are really concerned about catching covid? (sort of like those people I saw ransacking a bath and body works and filling up their bags in order to protest injustice)

Local police don’t hide their faces. Sheriffs don’t wear masks and CHP don’t either. It’s a part of building trust with the community you’re policing. People proud of the work they do don’t cover their faces. These ICE agents are only wearing masks to hide the shame of what they’re doing and to avoid the inevitable civil rights lawsuits that will be coming out of this whole mess.

If you had to throw out a rough "guesstimate", how many local PD walking the beat are encountering people who could have connections to cartels who could have them assassinated later?

I suspect people want them to have their face coverings off so that they can use intimidation to get them to stop doing their job.

But never fear, I have a compromise...

ICE takes the masks off...

Any protestor or activist caught personally identifying an ICE officer for the purposes of of intimidation (doxxing) gets a mandatory 20 year minimum sentence.

Fair deal?

I mean, if we're talking about doing things that are purely for the purposes of intimidation so that someone won't do their job, it should cut both ways right?

That sounds good to me. As far as I know doxxing someone is already illegal.

Yeah, but it's often impractical to enforce, so maybe we need to find a way to make sure that protestors have their identities exposed (and their family members) so that they live in the same kinds of fear that they want the ICE agents to live in, correct?

After all, that's what they want to do the ICE agents

"I want to be able to see your face so I can take a pic and use various automation tools to intimidate you and your ilk"

So that law needs to be modified.

If a protestor is caught taking a pic of an ICE agents uncovered face, the ICE agent has the authority to forcibly pull down their mask and take a pic their face, that should even the odds.

Obviously I'm being sarcastically facetious here... But we can't have protestors dictating national immigration policy through doxxing/intimidation tactics.

Excellent idea. And a visible police presence usually serves as a deterrent too bad behavior. I have been horrified listening to the stories of ice wearing face masks and no identification.
It endangers lives, and is reckless and irresponsible. I think people have had enough.

So long as ICE is running "ops" againsts shape-ups at home improvement stores, immigration court dates, schools, and restaurants, the PD probably has a higher likelihood of running into a cartel connected person.

As an Angeleno, we’ve certainly had more than enough of these ICE terror raids.

End the federal occupation of Los Angeles now before more people get hurt.

They can pass it, but they won't be able to enforce it against federal law enforcement officers.

I wonder how far this can actually go. Can the governor order state police to patrol and protect specific neighborhoods from ICE raids?

At this point ICE’s presence here is much more of a disturbance to the city than the couple gardeners and restaurant workers they’re arresting could have ever been. Save for the usual crimes you get in a big city like LA, everything was generally peaceful here before ICE came in and started raiding workplaces and violently, and I’d argue, illegally taking the people from our communities right off the streets with no warrant and no announcement that they’re even law enforcement.

There’s a pain that everyone around here is feeling now knowing what’s being done to our neighbors and fellow citizens. It wasn’t long ago I felt this same feeling when it was peoples homes burning to the ground just a few months ago. To watch the president use federal forces to intimidate and deliberately try to breakdown and destroy the will of the people of the second largest city in the country is something I can’t even really put into words how it makes me feel. Still, and with everything else with this president, the most shocking part is how many people are still willing to go along with what he’s doing. Even as he attacks his own country.

I won’t be commenting for a while on any of these ice threads because it’s been giving me a lot of anxiety lately and I get enough of it from social media throughout the day. It’s too real to me now.

The mayor is unable to stop the vandalizing and looting, the mayor of L.A. has called for a curfew. ICE will assist in trying to keep the peace.

The curfew was cancelled today. No more curfew in Downtown LA.

There is no vandalizing or looting going on.
the mayor of L.A. has called for a curfew.
The curfew has been lifted because literally nothing is going on and it is killing local businesses.
ICE will assist in trying to keep the peace.
That's not what they're doing. Every interaction I've seen they are terrorizing innocent people and behaving more like masked jihadists than like proper law enforcement. Things were peaceful before ICE came in. You really don't know what's going on here and your media is lying to you.

A week after Mayor Karen Bass implemented a curfew in parts of downtown Los Angeles following days of protests against immigration actions, it has been lifted.
In a statement, Bass said after "successful crime prevention and suppression efforts," the curfew would be lifted effective Tuesday night.
On June 10, Bass instituted the curfew with support from local enforcement and other leaders after protests against immigration operations turned violent, resulting in businesses being looted and the destruction of public property.

Look, squirrel!

Would that your example would be in any way relatable to the situation being discussed. It's not, just muddying the waters. Carry on.

Maybe we should just fully eliminate undercover police work while we are at it. Or maybe we should just doxx all of the ice agents so that they think twice about doing their jobs while their families are in danger.

You’all activism and hatred for the present administration is clouding your judgements. The whine and crying from the left is pitiful just like it was for the right during the last administration. All common sense and good judgement goes out the window. Ok off my soap box.
I'm sorry, but that rant was just inane. But perhaps you are correct. We should do the opposite. All police sre hidden behind masks that show no facial features ,perhaps with some scary features incorporated just to put that fear of law into all you criminals. Also no need for warrants because you might see some information linking the people arresting you in them, and while we're at it, courts should be held in secret locations with no witnesses allowed because they could see the officers in question or other people related to the arrest and who knows what they might do to them. And of course, prisons are completely out of any oversight, just imagine if criminals knew who their guards were and what they or their friends could do to their families when they get out. All of law should be secret!
Now off my soap box.

Surely there is some middle ground between secret police snatching people from streets, schools and factories and publishing names and addresses. When an agent for the FBI or ICE is working undercover, don't they show their faces? The point is that they are unknown, not masked.

Personal insults are bad arguments.
They are not secret - they are uniformed and even those who do not speak English know exactly who they are.
That's just it, with their faces and badges covered, they could be anyone including fake police. Even those who speak English don't know who they are, only what they represent - authoritarian power.

Secret police are a very, very bad idea. What's next, secret judges and secret juries?
You left out the last secret President! Who was filling in for Joe while he was mentally out for lunch?
