The order by the lower court regarding rhe NG has been suspended by an appellate court. It was not overturned, but halted. Next week there is another hearing.
Where it will likely be overturned. it's not like the definition of rebellion is going to be changed by a higher court.

Meanwhile, ICE just got an 80 year old woman in the town where I work. She has been in the country since 1965 as an undocumented person and she said nobody cared about these things back then. She’s been legal since 2003, but she was popped on the basis of her undocumented status between 65-03, claiming that illegal status made it impossible for her to be legal now. Information they got from her paperwork, by the way. So if she had never gone through the effort of being legalized in 2003, they wouldn’t have caught her.

They nabbed her at home in front of her grandkids on summer break.

So… My negligible respect for ICE has been erased, and my respect for this administration had slid from hostile to downright adversarial. No person with an understanding of our country, the rights that are entailed on the people within it’d borders, or even a passing knowledge of world history would ever support this. This is literally straight out of my grandfather’s journals about growing up in 1930s Germany.

LA’s ICE Raids Are Impacting Domestic Violence Shelters

These programs “should be safe sanctuaries—and we can’t even guarantee that anymore.”

A recent federal policy change allowing immigration enforcement at domestic violence shelters and similar organizations has also created more barriers for undocumented survivors, who advocates say already deal with abusers threatening to report them to ICE or take their children out of the country as means of control.

If I was a US citizen then this is now the point where I'd have to ask where the next protest is taking place.
Pretty much everywhere tomorrow.

Video shows immigration agents interrogating a Latino U.S. citizen: “I’m American, bro!”

Brian Gavidia was at work on West Olympic Boulevard in Montebello at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday when he was told immigration agents were outside of his workplace.

Gavidia, 29, was born and raised in East Los Angeles and fixes and sells cars for a living. He said he stepped outside. And saw four to six agents.

Within seconds, he said, one of them — wearing a vest with “Border Patrol Federal Agent” written on the back — approached him.

“I’m an American citizen,” Gavidia said he told the agent at least three times.

Despite his responses, the agent pushed him into a metal gate, put his hands behind his back and asked him what hospital he was born in, Gavidia said.

“What hospital were you born?” the agent asked again, this time recorded in the video.

“I don’t know dawg!” he said. “East L.A. bro! I can show you: I have my ... Real ID.”

[The agent took his Real ID and it has not been returned.]

His friend, who Gavidia did not name, narrated the video. As the incident continued, he said: “These guys, literally based off of skin color! My homie was born here!” The friend said Gavidia was being questioned “just because of the way he looks."

Montebello Mayor Salvador Melendez, who watched video of the encounter with Gavidia, called the situation “just extremely frustrating.

“I’m legal,” [Gavidia] said. “I speak perfect English. I also speak perfect Spanish. I’m bilingual, but that doesn’t mean that I have to be picked out, like ‘This guys seems Latino; this guy seems a little bit dirty.’ I’m working, guys. I’m an American. We work. I’m Latino. We work.”

The agency said in a statement that it is “conducting targeted immigration enforcement in support of ICE operations across the Los Angeles area. Enforcing immigration law is not optional* — it’s essential to protecting America’s national security, public safety, and economic strength.”

*This statement is no longer operational.

US immigration officials told to largely pause raids on farms, hotels, NYT reports

"Effective today, please hold on all work site enforcement investigations/operations on agriculture (including aquaculture and meat packing plants), restaurants and operating hotels,” Tatum King, a senior official at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in guidance to regional leaders of the department, the Times added.

I’m unable to protest today (I’m at work) but also ICE is in the area and as somebody in a lead position, I feel it’s my duty to stay to protect my staff. The next protest I can attend, I will. I have removed my American flag from my front porch though.

Lol. Way to get hysterical.

Do you have a link to the story?
LoL, way to understand history, more like it. My grandfather has a whole series of journal entries about the day the gestapo knocked on the door and took his mom and aunt on indecipherable charges. One morning, months later, he came downstairs and his mother was back, making breakfast like she was never gone. Nobody spoke of it. The aunt? No idea where she ended up. She never came back. Guess what? There are literally millions of similar stories all across Europe.

Give it a minute; I’m sure national news will pick it up. In the meantime, I’m not linking to an article that reveals my location. Though I enjoy that you think there must be a level of context that justifies taking an 80-year-old abuela from her home in front of her grandkids, leaving them to be taken by ICE to state care until a (documented) parent came to get them.

Comparing ICE to the gestapo is nothing but hysteria. ICE is enforcing the laws of the land passed by our legislators. They are doing exactly what they are paid to do. Remove illegal aliens.

I know there is a lot of talk around, "violent illegals" or "criminal Illegals", but the immigration laws do not say anything about that. There is nothing in the law that says only violent or illegal immigrants who commit crimes are deportable or should be deported.

ALL illegals may be taken into custody regardless of anything. It doesn't matter how long they've been here, how nice they are or how hard they work or how many taxes they've paid. They are here illegally. If you dont like the laws then get them changed.

But no one has the right to obstruct government agents from doing their job. Illegals are not being picked up and sent to a concentration camp, starved, beaten, shot, experimented on gassed and buried in mass Graves. They are given a ride back to where they came from.

That's fine, because it is "how" they are doing it which under dispute.

There was some prioritizing promised by the President, but he didn't deliver.

ICE is being directed by executive order, not the laws. We don't always know if they are obering the law or not.

How do you know? We don't know what has happened to most of them, not even their families know.

Stuff like this is what is changing people’s opinion about ICE and fueling the protests. If she is legal now then ICE does not have the right to arrest her. It would be interesting to follow this case.

They are given a ride back to where they came from.
This is demonstratively not true - the government is deporting (or at least trying to deport) people to whichever countries will take them. For instance:

Documents provided by D.H.S. showed that the eight men were citizens of Cuba, Laos, Mexico, South Sudan, Burma and Vietnam
I see five countries other than South Sudan on that list, and yet all were deported to South Sudan.

During the hearing on Wednesday, Judge Murphy also had harsh words for the administration about how it handled the removal of the Guatemalan man, who is known in court papers by his initials, O.C.G.

In late March, an official from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a sworn declaration that O.C.G. had been told he was being sent to Mexico and asserted that he was not afraid of being sent there.

But on Friday, just before the ICE official was scheduled to answer more questions under oath, the Justice Department abruptly told Judge Murphy that the initial declaration was erroneous. Department lawyers acknowledged that they were now unable to find anyone who had told O.C.G. that he was going to be deported or heard him assert that he was fine with being sent to Mexico.
Guatemalan man deported to Mexico, and DHS appears to have lied and claimed (under oath) that they had received his consent to do so.

Judge Boasberg is also considering whether to allow immigration lawyers to continue their efforts to seek a court order forcing the government to bring back about 140 Venezuelan men who went sent on the flights to El Salvador without first being given due process.
Then, of course, there is the well-publicized event of Venezuelans being deported to El Salvador for imprisonment.

A judge in Massachusetts already issued an injunction blocking the Homeland Security department from removing migrants to these third countries. That means deporting people to countries they're not originally from. The administration has found workarounds, though. They've used other agencies, such as the Defense Department, to remove people from the U.S. Immigration lawyers filed an emergency motion yesterday asking that same judge to again block removals to Libya or any third country. They argued their clients - who are Laotian, Vietnamese and Filipino - could be sent in a matter of hours. And last night, the judge issued another order. It clarifies DHS can't use a loophole and that any agencies, including the Pentagon, can't deport people to these third countries unless those people get prior time to contest their removals.
From back in May, and blocked by the courts, but they tried really hard to send deportees - who were not Libyan - to Libya.

There was a lot of talk of "criminal Jews" and "parasitic Jews" and "Der Ewige Juden" but the Nazi laws did not say anything about that.

The Gestapo was just following orders.
