And frankly we shouldn't assume he is a Democrat based on that appointment. One source, I can't verify, had his appointment to the commission being originally by Walz's Republican predecessor, but even that doesn't matter. These types of boards and commissions are often non-partisan or bi-partisan and both Republican and Democratic governors appoint members of both parties to them (and those without party). The same is true with similar boards and commissions at the local and federal level.
