...and restricts entry from other countries.

The ban, which goes into effect on Monday, bars travel to the United States by citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Mr. Trump also imposed restrictions — but stopped short of a full ban — on travel from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela. People from those countries cannot come to the United States permanently or get tourist or student visas.

“The recent terror attack in Boulder, Colo., has underscored the extreme dangers posed to our country by the entry of foreign nationals who are not properly vetted, as well as those who come here as temporary visitors and overstay their visas,” Mr. Trump said in a video message announcing the travel ban. “We don’t want them.”

Curiously, Egypt is not on the list.

Nobody should feel safe, to go to America . Even people, that are from Canada and Other countries, that aren't on the list. Are being treated badly, when they go to America. American business/ people are/ will suffer big time. Trump is the biggest threat to America, than any country.

Ha! Next you'll say that people from Saudi Arabia had something to do with September 11th.

So close...but yet so far away for away.

Say, when is the last time a terrorist from Cuba committed an act of terrorism in the U.S.?

Wait, I thought Cuba was literally right next to Miami, like the next town over. I am in Miami getting ready to deploy for a few months down south and all I see are Cuban flags so I assumed that they are close.

I'd love to see americans try and find those countries on a map.
I've been to one country on each list and could map them all. We are not all ignorant. That's an ignorant impression on your part.

You mean you're not scared to have Cuba be so close. They don't seem to have sent us any terrorists lately but they have done much worse. They actually expressed support for the Palestinians! I doubt they have signed the President's anti-DEI oath, either.

I was in Cuba during the time it was allowed and had no problems. Wanted to visit the city my family use to live in.

While the outright travel ban is more stringent than what most other countries do, it should be noted that many (if not all) of those nations are on the list for more restricted and regulated travel in nations like our neighbors to the north.

For example, if someone from Yemen wants to visit Canada, they can't just show their passport like people from many nations can.

They have to
Submit biometric information 2 months in advance
Apply for a special electronic travel authorization
Show proof of onward travel (meaning, proof that you have a way/plan to leave Canada after your stay)
Apply for a special visitors visa at a Canadian embassy (which Yemen doesn't even have one, the closest one to them is in Riyadh Saudi Arabia)
Letter of invitation from an Canadian-approved tourism agency (if the visit isn't for vocational reasons)

(and in looking at Canada's travel website, it looks like Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, and Libya have similar sets of requirements for their citizens wishing to visit Canada)

The end result, they get fewer than 1400 visitors as year from Yemen most years (most of them pre-approved business trips and not general tourism)

Whereas, prior to the first travel ban, we were getting about 6-7 times that number coming in each year.

So people can hold their nose at this particular move by the USA if they want, but in reality, many other developed nations are trying to accomplish the exact same thing by creating a complicated system with criteria that makes travel largely prohibitive, but stopping just shy of a full ban so that they can say "see, we're more humane"

Not sure what that has to do with anything.

If someone was making a critique about Wal-Mart, would the validity of their critique be based on their ability to locate Bentonville, Arkansas on a map without having to look it up?

And what were the requirement to travel from Yemen to the US before yesterday? (I'm going to guess it wasn't that different than the Canadian requirements.

Form DS-160
Valid Yemeni Passport
Proof of financial ability to cover trip expenses
And for a few of the years between 9/11 and 2012, they were on the list of countries that did some additional 221-G processing (which from what I'm reading, means they did some additional security screening steps)

Yes, in that hypothetical scenario, it would be the source of the employment policies the person didn't like (even if they didn't know exactly where it was physically located from memory)
