The more I read about President Biden's last two years in office and the various health issues he has experienced, it raises questions about how this situation was allowed to occur. It is unclear why no one in the Cabinet addressed these concerns or why the 25th Amendment was not invoked.

However, I disagree with Brit Hume's assertion that this incident will only affect generation of DNC politicians. Hume assumes that Democrats are the only ones corrupt and power hungry. Republicans have as many corrupt politicians as Democrats do. If a Republican president faced a similar issue, they would likely follow the same procedures: covering it up and concealing it from the American people.

The Democratic Party paid the penalty for covering up and manipulating the DNC primary, Vice President Harris lost. If figures like Governor Josh Shapiro or Gavin Newsom become the DNC nominee in 2028, Americans will focus on what President Trump and the GOP plan for the next four years, rather than Joe Biden's past actions. Should President Trump succeed in creating the "Golden Age of America" as he claims, no Democratic nominee will be able to defeat the next GOP candidate in 2028. However, if the economy continues as it has in the last four months, the outcome remains uncertain.

I do not understand your reasoning behind creating a thread about politics, politicians, and the next generation of politicians while stating that "the current president has no place in this thread." I am not criticizing President Trump, but rather pointing out that President Trump is central to American politics today. There is no local, national, or future generation politics in America without the influence of President Trump. Whether people support President Trump or not, it must be acknowledged that he has reshaped American politics, and his influence will persist long after he leaves politics.

Given the polarized state of American politics, a constitutional amendment seems unlikely. However, based on observations from the last two years of the Biden administration, it may be time to set age limits for running for president or any public office. There should not be 85-year-old congresswomen from CA or 91-year-old senators from IA governing the most powerful nation on earth.

I think Biden maintained solid moral judgement and a capacity for considered decision making - so long as he had some good naps. But clearly his impromptu powers had waned a lot. Yet recall that even during his disaster (imo) debate, for most of that performance he actually did ok.

But lets say a 25th Amendment proposal was on the table..... wow did we miss a great opportunity for a president Harris to take over. This could have made her a known quantity rather than a mystery-risk, and thus capable of taking down Trump in '24.

The only reason why she was nominated was because Joe Biden's stubbornness to drop from the race prevented the DNC from having a proper election. Fox News lies far more than any Main stream media outlet. If they can survive, anyone can.

Of course she was a DEI pick! Thats one of the major criteria for a VP choice: who else can you bring to the ticket whos not like you?

For me, it was also reassuring that she was smart, hard working, had good values, and was not, in fact, a radical.

I do wish the D's had a proper '24 primary tho. She could have been tested, and if successful afforded the time to run a proper campaign and not just spray money everywhere as fast as possible due to those stupid circumstances.,
