  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump admin. concedes Maryland man from El Salvador was mistakenly deported/sent to mega prison - shrugs 'nothing can be done' [ETA: oh but it can!]

Ya know, there is a crop photo function....but then the King Cyrus / Donald Trump image may be less bigly.

Look, I'm 53, my computer is garbage, I am on a smart phone after 20 year of flip phone, my fingers are too big for my tiny smart phone, I just learned yesterday how to post an emoji and last week to use the  strike out feature and I used to help people with postings photos, multiple quote, and other stuff here when they allowed the godless to be on admin. Cut me some slack.

All of it is quickly being replaced with their new export of prison beds for enemies of the Trump regime United States.

Talk about creating a trade imbalance using the Trump Formula.

I’d say they’re ripping us off but I think we have enough of their prisoners here.

Thats right.

But it has zero to do with what happens if the US requests they send the guy back. Do you think it does?
No, I think it was a play on words not meant to be taken literally.

Well we already know it wasnt a play on words. Basically it was just..... how do I put this without getting censored.......?

Yet certain people eat it up as if its a satisfactory answer to the question. But everyone knows if the US admin actually requested the guy back, Bukele would deliver.

Was it also smuggling when the US brought back a Russian ballerina last week?
And further on this point… is it still called human trafficking when someone is illegally abducted, held against their will with no charges, has no day in court and is transported across international borders for profit?

Or did that definition also change with the new administration?

How can anyone say Garcia received no due process while simultaneously claiming that a court found no evidence he was a gang member?
Maybe you're a little bit confused. Those two aren't the same event. You really don't comprehend that or you just trolling here?

Really, could you show me where it is?

...if you're using the "insert image" function, import a photo...then click on the image. In the bottom corner, there's a blue line visible that you can drag to shrink the picture before posting it. (at least I see it using a laptop....can't say for a mobile phone).

USSC:

"On March 15, 2025, the United States removed Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia from the United States to El Salvador, where he is currently detained in the Center for Terrorism Confinement (CECOT). The United States acknowledges that Abrego Garcia was subject to a withholding order forbidding his removal to El Salvador, and that the removal to El Salvador was therefore illegal. The United States represents that the removal to El Salvador was the result of an “administrative error.”

...The order properly requires the Government to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador."

Statement of SOTOMAYOR, J.
"The United States Government arrested Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia in Maryland and flew him to a “terrorism confinement center” in El Salvador, where he has been detained for 26 days and counting. To this day, the Government has cited no basis in law for Abrego Garcia’s warrantless arrest, his removal to El Salvador, or his confinement in a Salvadoran prison. Nor could it. The Government remains bound by an Immigration Judge’s 2019 order expressly prohibiting Abrego Garcia’s removal to El Salvador because he faced a “clear probability of future persecution” there and “demonstrated that [El Salvador’s] authorities were and would be unable or unwilling to protect him.”

I don't understand what this has to do with what I stated. The facts are simple, Garcia did receive due process otherwise a judge could not have made any orders. Second, Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador, not the United States. Third, regardless of the reasons, Garcia is now back in El Salvador and under the jurisdiction of the El Salvadorian government. Fourth, whatever Burkele does with Garcia within the borders of his own country is his perogative within the laws of his country. So it appears to be El Salvador's problem to resolve, not the United States.

Wrong.

It's about due process and the rule of law.
Is it though? You have still yet to answer my question. How can someone claim that Garcia did not receive due process when their are court documents showing due process and court orders?

The court determined he didnt receive due process.

Just "there were some documents" is not due process.

The Trump admin plainly acted illegally here, and against human liberty.

Even if this is motivated by vilifying Trump, why in the world would people pro Trump people put up a fight when hes obviously wrong. Just admit it and the thread could have died on page one.
Because "pro Trump people" don't think it is wrong to give El Salvador their criminals back.

That's because Bukele's clever retort must be portrayed as him actually being stupid by the left, because he's not doing what they want, and because he seems to be getting along with Trump.
Yet certain people eat it up as if its a satisfactory answer to the question. But everyone knows if the US admin actually requested the guy back, Bukele would deliver.
Literally everyone knows that eh? Nah, certain people are just making that claim. But like Oompa says, after this situation gets enough milage, poster child Garcia will be dropped as he's replaced by the next protested outrage.

How can their be court rulings and denied probation requests that go as far back as 2019 if there was no due process?

What on earth are you talking about? What will make you happy, Trump sending SEAL Team six to infiltrate and extract Garcia from an El Salvadorian prison? Or should Trump just slap a 200% tariff on El Salvador to force them to give up one of their own citizens?
