  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So far, at least nine (now ~40) (now ~160) judges, including Trump appointees, have called a halt to Trump executive actions

Let the Laws prevail.
For how long when investigation & prosecution of a New York Mayor can be swept aside by the President because - the Mayor is 'convenient' to Trumps anti-immigrant agenda? When did the law become optional depending on a President's will? When did America take this step towards dictatorship?

Oh yeah - when they voted for the guy that said he'd be dictator on day one.

Or a preemptive pardon to prevent an investigation and prosecution of law breakers. I find the timing of the mayor's prosecution suspicious. When Adams opened his mouth about immigration in his city, then charges came. They've been investigating him for 10 years and allowed him to run for government.

The Mayor didn't speak out against immigrants until 2024; until then, he towed the line. The sanctuary cities were going broke. Do you remember them begging Biden for money in the fall of 2023?

The US DOJ does not decide who is "allowed to run for government". Even charging and arresting him didn't stop him from running the NYC government.

There's no need for you to disingenuously pose as being clueless and misled.
I was misled. I mean being a Christian forum I expect honesty and truthfulness from everyone.....even atheists .How about anyone else?

What pseudonym does Trump go under in posting here?.....I'll have to follow him.....
The question being asked is why you don't hold the president to the same standards that you personally advocate. It's not a difficult question. I'm just curious about why that should be the case. How come you'd take offence if a forum member lies to you but it's OK if Trump does it.

Actually I think it started when Biden pardoned his son.
Overblown hysteria based on nothing! What - you think Fox is spreading actual news or something?

Now compare that to Trump pardoning CONVICTED TRAITORS who stormed the Capitol.

See - a criminal act is defined by law - not by how passionately they follow Qanon or if they really, really, really believe other nonsense like the 2020 election being stolen.

Inflating Trumps ego and giving him narcissistic supply should not be grounds for Presidential Pardon!

Again, why the inconsistency?

I am speaking (as you well know) about those who POST HERE. I can't/don't control the speech of everyone everywhere.
Why didn't you hold Biden to the same standardl? Biden: I won't pardon Hunter.......Biden: I am pardoning Hunter.....after all what is good for the goose.......

What?....Biden pardoning his son is NOT actual news?....especially after promising the American public he would not?.......sheesh

Which of them were convicted of treason? I don't even remember that being a charge.

You can't control the speech of those who post here either. But you say that it's unacceptable for them to lie. If they do it doesn't affect you in the slightest. But if the president lies, and that could have a significant affect on you, he gets a pass.

Why is that? Why is it acceptable?

I know Brad doesn't read my stuff, but I'm going to say this. It's not okay for anyone to lie. Trump, Biden, AOC, Harris, or Vance.

But we all know politicians do. But what we do, all of us, is accept our own side doing it while castigating the other side.

Whats that make us? Hypocrites and is lying worse that being a Hypocrite?

What I also see is people is being so accusatory about someone lying, when they dont know if they actually are. Perhaps they were just mistaken, or maybe got wrong information or were exagerating or minimizing for effect. Whatever man, let's all just get off our hypcritical high horse and just talk to each other. We can vehemently disagree on things. Thats why we are on these threads.

I’ve been over Trump’s unfamiliarity with the truth for a while.

It’s not that he lies a lot, it’s that he thinks that he’s telling the truth, that irks me.

Referring back to the OP's question, my question is: How can one person (the President) have so much power in a democracy?
If you ask me, it's the fault of the veto power. This article did a lot to convince me of this:

(see particularly section 3, "Getting Broad Powers While Evading Review")

Sure I can; they break the rules they pay the price. Trump, Biden, etc breaks the rules there is no reporting mechanism for that.
But you say that it's unacceptable for them to lie. If they do it doesn't affect you in the slightest.
Sure it does; someone might believe the lie and act on it. It affects us all.
But if the president lies, and that could have a significant affect on you, he gets a pass.
You tell us a way to stop him and all the others and I will. Till then there is nothing I can do.
