  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Four posts ago you were demanding answers to these questions. Now you're hopeful the great and powerful Trump Administration will address your concerns.

You can't call out Trump supporters like people call out Trump on his behavior.

That's because we are tired of the incessant whining over non-essential federal workers being laid off. Not every federal worker is a necessary worker.
That depends on whether you want a functioning government or not. It seems as though MAGA/Musk does not.
And it sounds like they are hiring some back. Problem solved.
Yeah, real efficient!
Who knows? It may be as simple as the bureaucrats are doing all they can to sabotage Trump just like they said they would.
If by "sabotage" you mean keep the government functioning according to how it is set up, the hurrah for the bureaucrats and permanent workforce!

Multistate lawsuit seeks to reverse Trump admin purge of federal workers

The federal lawsuit filed in Maryland calls the mass firings illegal, causing economic harm and overwhelming government support systems for unemployed workers.

The lawsuit and restraining order request, filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland on Thursday and Friday, call for a federal judge to halt the planned layoffs of federal probationary workers and reinstate those who have already been fired.

Under federal laws and regulations, if the government terminates probationary employees en masse for reasons unrelated to performance, agencies must follow “Reductions in Force” guidelines. Those include additional job protections for military veterans and at least a 60-day notification to affected states so local officials can set up rapid response teams to support a surge of unemployed residents.

The parallel legal actions are among the latest in dozens of federal complaints from attorneys generals and private groups across the country aiming to claw back or reverse the White House’s executive actions since President Trump took office Jan. 20.

The majority of Americans support the reduction in Federal bureaucracy and employees. Maga or not.

Yeah I don't think thats efficient. But I haven't actually seen anything that would indicate these layoffs had to happen the way they did. In other words, what exactly were these departments told? I'd sure like to know for sure. Did they follow specific instructions or was this a move they made in order to cause these problems as an obstruction move?

No I don't mean that.

This will be interesting as typically probationary workers can be let go for any reason or for no reason.

Was a 60 day notice issued?

Yes typical leftist tactics. Stop and obstruct the president from doing anything to help reduce the size and scope of governement.

Well it's not illegal until the final decision is made.
You’re allowed to not defend the Trump Administration at every turn, we won’t think less of you.

You are allowed not to attack him at every turn as well. We won't think less of you either.
Point taken, (I only wish that there was some “good news” coming out of the Executive Branch so I could lavish the praise it would deserve).

If you watch CNN, MSNBC and PBS there will never be anything for you to praise, if you watch Fox both hands will be raised in praise every day

Well the idea that “hey let’s get rid of ‘fraud, waste & abuse’” is (and always has been) laudable.
It’s been around since like forever, but certainly from Reagan on, it’s been a mantra; though those mantra-days are over and now it’s “doctrine”.

There is waste, fraud and abuse.
Everyone knows it, (same as “voter-fraud”, finding some happens but not nearly often enough that we need worry about it).

If someone is really serious about deficit-reduction, then defense cuts, tax hikes for the rich, and a total revamping of our social-safety net(s), (maybe UBI?), will have to happen in short succession

This would require a functional Congress, though.

Well, he didn't say that there would be a recession. Is that good news? But he wasn't really confident that there wouldn't be one. Just be aware of that 'period of transition'. Hey, maybe the truth is in there trying to get out!

President Donald Trump did not deny there could be a recession this year under his leadership, telling Fox News there would be a “period of transition” as his economic policies take effect, as the president’s rapidly shifting tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada have rattled the stock market and led to warnings of an economic downturn.

They’ve covered their bases (somewhat), by telling American that there’d probably be some pain.

A few months of on-again, off-again tariffs and this ploy will have played out and they’ll match & ignore.
Once the markets understand it’s “Trump being Trump” they’ll ignore him too.

Then “the fun” can begin!
