CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm gonna wait a bit before this is acknowledged by LEADERS.
Ultimately, I JUST hope that the Ukrainian people will be happy with the deal. IF they are, I am AND I will give Trump props at that point.
Trump bullying and taking advantage of a vulnerable people to score political points the way he did, isn't the thing that I see as success. But there's plenty of people who admire bullies.

Are you suggesting that the USA doesn't try to repaid for the hundreds of billions of dollars of money, ammunition, and equipment which we sent to Ukraine? The European nations sent their money to Ukraine as a loan, whereas the Biden administration stupidly gave our money away as a grant.

Trump told reporters that the Ukrainian leader plans to travel to D.C. on Friday to meet with him after the officials agreed to the terms of the deal, which was first reported by Reuters. The U.S. president added that the two leaders are "just in the process of negotiating."
"We've pretty much negotiated our deal on earth [minerals] and various other things," Trump said. "We'll be looking…. general security for Ukraine later on. I don't think that's going to be a problem. There are a lot of people that want to do it, and I spoke with Russia about it. They didn't seem to have a problem with it. So I think they understand they're not going back. And once we do this, they're not going back."
The pact, which would involve giving the U.S. access to natural resources in exchange for America’s support of Ukraine amid its war with Russia, was days in the making. Trump said on Friday that his administration was "pretty close" to striking a deal, and on Monday, he hinted that a meeting between him and Zelenskyy was imminent.

Given that most od that money went to American companies maybe you should try to recoup feom them.

The money came from the federal government, i.e., American taxpayers. That money shall now be recouped via the mineral rights trade deal with Ukraine.

Ukraine has agreed on the terms of a minerals deal with the United States and could sign it Friday, the two countries said, a move Kyiv hopes will lead to future security guarantees from Washington.
US President Donald Trump, in part of a dramatic shift of policy that includes reaching out to Russia, has demanded that Ukraine give access to its rare earth minerals to compensate for the billions of dollars of wartime aid it received under Joe Biden.
The deal would see the United States jointly develop Ukraine's mineral wealth, with revenues going to a newly created fund that would be "joint for Ukraine and America", a senior Ukrainian source told AFP on the condition of anonymity late Tuesday.
The source said the draft of the deal included a reference to "security", but did not explicitly set out the United States' commitments -- one of Kyiv's prior demands for an agreement.
"There is a general clause that says America will invest in a stable and prosperous sovereign Ukraine, that it works for a lasting peace, and that America supports efforts to guarantee security.
"Now government officials are working on the details," the source said.
The Ukrainian source said President Volodymyr Zelensky could sign the deal on a trip to Washington as early as Friday -- a timetable confirmed by Trump.

Like many who win a lawsuit from a person with no money, I will wait to see the money, if that really is the goal. Ukraine will need hundreds of billions in rebuilding when the war ends. Ukraine already has restructured debt. I wonder if those stakeholders/bondholders will have priority over USA contractual claims?

Europe has sent about $139 billion in that period, according to the Kiel Institute.

Canada's gone, annexed to Asia (China/India). All our homeless dying in the streets from fentanyl poisoning are multi-generational Canadians while govt spends billions on migrants in hotels. Govt offices employ mostly migrants. In 2015 Trudeau said Canada has no core identity and is a post-national state. Currently Trudeau has prorogued parliament so they can install a new prime minister. Our next prime minister will most likely be Mark Carney, a former banker who I don't think will be able to sit in Parliament because he's unelected (doesn't have a seat). As an 8th generation Canadian, I'm all for Canada becoming 51st state under Trump, for the future of our kids, hopefully starting in the province of Alberta.
