  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Andrew Taake, 36, was sentenced to six years in prison in June 2024 after pleading guilty to assaulting officers with bear spray and a whip-like weapon during the attack in Washington D.C. Taake was released from a federal prison in Florence, Colorado, on Jan. 20, after he and more than 1,500 others involved in the insurrection were pardoned by Trump on his first day in office.

On Monday, Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare confirmed in a statement to Houston Public Media that Taake is still wanted under a pending state warrant for the alleged online solicitation of a minor in 2016.

Teare said his office had asked federal authorities to hold Taake in Colorado, due to his pending warrant in Texas, but that Taake was still released despite the DA's office faxing a copy of the warrant to the Federal Bureau of Prisons on Jan. 15, five days before he was pardoned.

Sounds like Trump’s DOJ was doing a sanctuary city thing for violent, right-wing pedophiles.

Trump stepped in dog poop politically speaking on his pardons but he'll pay the consequences, maybe. What's shocking about the people coming out in the news is the criminal mind because if I was offered a second chance I would try to keep my nose clean.

How so? He'll not get re-elected? He'll be fined and not be rich? He'll be incarcerated?

I think if these folks were inclined to that degree of self-reflection, they probably wouldn't have been there in the first place.

You know how the Democrats want to get elected every election well so does the other tribe and this will be used against the next Republican candidate. You know maybe the party for criminals mantra.
Many hope the things you mentioned will happen to him.

I think mental illness from early trauma causes people to act abnormally in a society where abuse in families isn't prevalent but I'm no psychologist.

Well you (hopefully) arent disposed to criminal activity in the first place.

As for criminals, my guessing and mind reading reveals they dont really picture themselves as getting caught in the first place. Certainly J6 criminals seemed to have a glow of faith that their sense of mission would serve as a shield against the law. And turns out... it did!

I was in my youth sadly.

Not getting caught is sound in your mind reading and it makes me think of my youth of shooting people's car windshields with my pellet gun, I never thought I'd get caught and I didn't.

Indiana man pardoned by Trump for Jan. 6 riot is shot and killed by deputy during arrest

An Indiana man recently pardoned by President Donald Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol has been shot and killed by a sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop.
Just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, a Jasper County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over 42-year-old Matthew Huttle of Hobart, Indiana State Police said in news release.
While trying to arrest Huttle, police say he resisted and began struggling with the deputy.
"An altercation took place between the suspect and the officer, which resulted in the officer firing his weapon and fatally wounding the suspect," police said.

After Trump pardon, Jan. 6 rioter is arrested again on gun charge

A man from Florida whom President Donald Trump pardoned for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was arrested again Wednesday on a federal gun charge.
Daniel Charles Ball was being held in pretrial detention in Washington on multiple charges related to the Capitol attack when a U.S. district judge dismissed his charges. But Ball remained in federal custody on an outstanding arrest warrant from Florida.

But has he offered him a cabinet position yet?

Maybe he should get something in the Dept of Labor, formerly led by Alex Acosta, who famously let Jeffrey Epstein off with a slap on the wrist.

It seems that the issue is resolving itself. I predict that by the end of the year, most of the pardoned people who were of a violent mind on january 6 and really deserved their prison time instead of just walking around a bit and having a gander will be back behind bars. Of course, they will cost the system loads of money and probably do some damage in the process, but that is a small price to pay for a people pleaser pardon.

I was always under the apprehension that it was the democrats who were soft on crime. Putting child molesters and gun thugs back on the street to reoffend seems an odd choice for republicans.

That is the campaign goal.

Especially the ones who attacked and injured police officers, but here we are.

I don’t remember a thread about this:
Because it's missing the additional context that he was prisoner-swapped with Americans being wrongfully detained in China.

Woman Given Jan 6 Pardon Is Sentenced for Death by Drunk Driving

A woman pardoned less than two weeks ago by President Trump has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a person while drunk driving.
Emily Hernandez, 25, was driving at double the legal alcohol limit on the wrong side of a Missouri highway in 2022 when she struck and killed another driver and injured the driver's husband, who was also in the car.
Following her federal pardon for her role in the Capitol riots, where she stole a sign from Nancy Pelosi's office, she was taken back to court in Franklin County, Missouri for her pending drunk driving charges and sent back to prison.
I guarantee throughout time those pardoned by Trump and ending right back in jail can be a running thread.

And just a few weeks later, he's finally arrested again.

Houston man pardoned for Jan. 6 crimes arrested on 2016 charge of online solicitation of a minor

"We would like to thank the coordinated efforts of our office's Fugitive Apprehension Section, Leon County Sheriff's Office, and Texas Department of Public Safety for their diligence in getting this suspected child predator back into custody," Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare said in a statement.

Late last month, the DA's office said it had asked federal authorities to hold Taake in Colorado due to his pending warrant in Texas, but that Taake was still released despite the DA’s office faxing a copy of the warrant to the Federal Bureau of Prisons on Jan. 15, five days before he was pardoned.

I think mental illness from early trauma causes people to act abnormally in a society where abuse in families isn't prevalent but I'm no psychologist.
It's apparently much more common than we'd like to think it is.

Epstein and his pals are an especially egregious case, but not all that rare.
