No it is not rejecting the lie that you are ok. It is rejecting that you can be your own God. It is rejecting the idea that God will not judge you, there is no hell, or there is no God.

and it is getting on your knees like the tax collector crying out to God for his mercy.

Those two commands are how we learn to become christlike.

Those two commands will not save us.

Well saying you can still die, and you will not live forever. and that you are just saved from this world. that is mans thinking. Not Gods.

saying we must earn salvation by works or by doing something, or not doing something, is mans thinking not Gods (every major religion on earth teaches this, with the exception of true christianity, sadly most who call themselves christian by into this worldview of merit salvation)

They absolutely will save us by showing what is required to attain the gift of the Kingdom. We must put God's will ahead of our own (1)thus loving all as self (2). Both these run opposite to what man does, putting our will ahead of God's (1) and using each other for personal gain (2)

God told Adam and Eve in the beginning to put His will ahead of their own and they would have eternal life. They refused. God told the people fleeing Egypt to put His will ahead of their own,. They continually refused. Jesus told the people the same and they crucified him. And so it goes until today. To refuse to do so keeps us in the flesh and not born again.

So since we have already sinned and fallen short. we can not love enough to save ourselves. we are still condemned.

He seeks our allegiance and rejection of adversarial way, understanding of how it creates all evil in the world. In this way we change not wanting to add to the sinful nature. Your will not be saved by being good

That has passed you by, God requires perfection. if we even stumble and commit one sin, we are lost
