“Matt is a deeply gifted and tenacious attorney, trained at the William & Mary College of Law, who has distinguished himself in Congress through his focus on achieving desperately needed reform at the Department of Justice. Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System,” Trump said of Gaetz in the statement.
I would have chosen Mark Levin first, but Matt is a fighter who won't back down.

I don't believe Gaetz can get Senate approval. If he is approved, I suspect you will see Lawfare on a level never dreamed of in the US (other than in the mind of Trump).

The nominee is still under investigation by the Republican-controlled House Ethics Committee after getting some sort of deal with the DOJ? Had he turned on his friend who was sentenced to 11 years? Not sure.
Drunk driving charges buried by local police, eye witness accounts of underage sex, cocaine, ecstasy, alcohol. For starters.
Swalwell said the is despised by both parties and has zero chance of getting confirmed.

When citizens lose respect for the law because law enforcement agencies are staffed by criminals (even if they got off) our country is in trouble (as expected.)

Permanent recess appointments, like last time.

Hopefully this travesty prompts action to end that abuse.

The Attorney General position will require Senate approval, and with Republicans having a majority, Gaetz could get through without Democrat approval — though even Republicans expressed skepticism about his chances of confirmation in the moments after the pick was announced.
I think it is brilliant and there are Republican members of Congress who will support the appointment. Obviously he is well qualified, but he has been a thorn a number of times in Congress - having him as AG removes that thorn and there are numbers of Republicans who would support that move.

I mean he has the same amount of legal experience as some federal judges, and they can't be fired. So I don't see any issues for him going through the Senate.
What about all the illegal experience his Republican House colleagues are investigating?

I was disappointed to hear that Thune was selected as the Senate majority leader instead of Scott. The Senate needs to make way for Trump's cabinet choices. The recess appointments will be critical.

From what I read , he's a criminal. Unless my standards are to high. Well so it Trump. I must have very high moral standards.

I did. Nothing in there says to me that he is "obviously well qualified" to run the DoJ. Very limited legal experience, and his own words suggest he never litigated in court, much less decided policy among any litigation. He does have some time in the House Judiciary COmmittee, but from what I can tell all he did there was rail against anybody who investigated Trump. Is there something I'm missing making him "well qualified" for the office? Especially among some of the other names that were being floated earlier for the position? Or for that matter have held the position previously?

Nope there is not one thing that could convince you he is a good pick. Thanks for asking.

Where did you learn how to mind read? Because you should get your money back. I'm perfectly willing to admit that Trump has appointed people to various offices who are qualified for the positions he has given them, even if I disagree with their politics. On the flipside though, I'm not going to say somebody is qualified just because I liked their politics. If you can show me something that indicates that he has the experience needed to handle an entity as complicated as the DoJ, I'm willing to look at it. But every time I asked for this evidence, which should be easy for you to provide because in your own words, it's obvious, you deflect. So I'm asking you outright. Besides being a cheerleader for Trump, what makes Matt Gaetz qualified to be the AG?

I disagree with Trump's choice of Gaetz for Attorney General. If I were advising President Trump, I would have very strongly encouraged him to select one of the state AGs from a strong, conservative state such as Texas, Florida, Missouri, etc.

He's pure politics, and probably a criminal. The worst kind of choice.

Gaetz’s ascension means the age of lawfare against the president is over for good.
There is no ambivalence at all for this man the Florida Republican Party hails as a “conservative warrior who will end the weaponization of our government, protect our borders, and restore confidence in our Justice Department.”
