Democrats in tight Senate races run ads touting their work with Trump

Ads have been released that show four Democratic Senate candidates in battleground states either working with former President Donald Trump or agreeing with his messaging as the November election is less than a month away.
Campaign ads for Rep. Elissa Slotkin in Michigan, Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio, Sen. Bob Casey in Pennsylvania, and Sen. Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin focus on the Democratic candidates' alliance with Trump or his policies, implying that aligning with the former president may benefit their campaigns more than siding with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.
While Trump is behind Harris by 1.4 points nationally according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, he leads the vice president in every battleground state.

I am pretty certain that they don't have one iota of respect for the Republican candidate between the three of them.

I do respect every legislator who reaches across the aisle to accomplish goals--but if they did vote with Republicans on any bills, I hope that the bill was amended in whatever ways were needed to earn their support.

They are aligning with Trump to garner favor with their voters, because he is out performing Kamala and they see him as the better candidate. Obviously they have more respect for him than her.

But they might not be aligning with Trump--but instead showing that they are open and receptive to voting for any bill that would benefit their constituents.

And I don't think it would be Trump himself that would help them get elected, but the idea that they would support bills from either party on their merits and not on the bills themselves.

For example, had Trump not ordered Republican senators not to vote for the bipartisan immigration bill, they might have realized that the bill gave them a very high percentage of what they wanted and supported it. It wasn't called "bipartisan" for no reason.

Sen. Lankford initially believed that 20-25 Republicans would vote for the bill.

Any senator who refuses to vote for a bill solely for partisan reasons or because coerced by a party leader lacks the independence and integrity we should expect in our leaders.

Read carefully

Democratic politicians are spending their own money to produce ads showing they worked with him or agreeing with President Trump

That is very plainly stated. They hope showing support for Trump will garner voters. That is why they are spending their own money.

The article said Baldwin and Brown wrote bills that the former president signed.

They weren't cooperating with him! He just happened to sign both bills in a rare episode of good sense.

FYI, the two impeachments were not "hoaxes" but obviously the publication you referenced promotes truth as hoax, and vice versa.

Oh! You think it's respect.
That's quaint.

It's about being desperate to maintain power even against their principals. Politicians fo it all the time

Thank you for your honesty - I agree - they will say and do anything to retain power.

Key word - desperate - why desperate if Kamala is doing so well?

Yep. Thats not in question. But why align with Trump if Harris, from their own party, is doing so well?

Let me be clear: This is a feature of elected officials not a specific "Democrat bug".

Well remember they are in their OWN race against their own competitor. Kamala could be doing well but if their own poll numbers are suffering they'll do whatever to try and improve them.

Republicans are severely punished for reaching across the aisle, or showing any independence, while Democrats brag about it. Yet, for some bizarre reason of their own, Republicans claim that the Democrats are divisive. How can they not figure it out?

Yep, like you said. Anything to remain in power

Hmmm.. can you site one instance of a Republican severely (scary word!), punished for reaching across the aisle.

Quote:

"Senator Brown in Ohio is quite aware that Trump will win his state and he's hoping to defy political gravity. That requires a lot of distancing from Harris and the national party," Rasmussen said.

Because she isn't - the more she talks the lower her ratings go - it might be why her handlers would not let her speak to the press until the very end.

Pandering.
Simple as that.
Pandering to keep their seat.
Yes, we know that is what they are doing. That’s established. We don’t need to discuss it any more. The question is why Trump and not their own candidate?

Kevin McCarthy thrown out of the House Speakership.
