  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A victory by Donald Trump will lead to an “authoritarian remake” (rifacimento autoritario) of the United States, according to an expert analysis of the US presidential election published by the Vatican newspaper.

In an article entitled “The November presidential elections in the United States, marked by polarization: the analysis of the expert Federico Romero: two opposing visions in the contest between Harris and Trump,” Matteo Frascadore, a journalist at L’Osservatore Romano, quoted extensively from Romero, described in the article as professor of North American history at the University of Florence in Italy.

“Polarization has increased to the point of delineating two different nations with very little in common,” said Romero. “There are no possible solutions on the horizon unless the electoral cycle ends with the election of a president who does not further polarize.”

Romero added:

And would Harris NOT polarize and be destructive of democracy with stuffing the electoral college and the continued law fare state?

We are in bad shape in this election and still the vast majority can’t see an option other than the two bad ones with all the money.

Well, the Vatican reviewer is entitled to his opinions, of course; but I for one sincerely doubt that Donald Trump is the world's next Joseph Stalin. The only people who really believe that are extreme progressive liberals who live in mortal terror that Trump will put the brakes on the free-fall careening of their pet agendas like 47 genders, climate change mythology, dissolving the borders, abortion on demand up to the instant of labor, and homosexual everything.

I will, however, agree with them on this statement:

“Polarization has increased to the point of delineating two different nations with very little in common,” said Romero.
Precisely. The United States very truly does consist of two completely different countries, both occupying the same space. Both of them have completely different worldviews, they have totally different goals, they are excruciatingly intolerant of the opposite side, and they are polarized and hostile to the point of vicious hatred. Neither side is about to compromise or concede so much as an inch to the other.

Basically, what we're looking at is Belfast in 1970.
And would Harris NOT polarize and be destructive of democracy with stuffing the electoral college and the continued law fare state?

Exactly right, chevy. No matter who wins this election, we're in trouble. The good Lord only knows where we'll be this time next year. :(

It is absolutely laughable, to think of Donald Trump as the next Joseph Stalin.

Yep.

Even a President Trump will not be able to fix our problems. I would like to continue to see him 'at the helm' of our ship while in this battle, but fix everything? Mend the years of moral decay and destruction we have seen? No. Only God can mend this Country, should He see fit to do so ...

Every night I ask God to grant sanity and stability to this country, and to the entire world, if it be His will.....and if it is not His will, for whatever reason, then to grant me the spiritual strength to be ready for the Apocalypse, when it happens.

There will be political pardons regardless of whether Harris or Trump wins. The Biden crime family gets a pardon no matter what.
Did Hunter get a pardon?

That wouldn’t look good before the election, so not yet. After the election it is a certainty whether Kamala wins or loses. But only Kamala can pardon Joe himself. So she better win for Joe’s sake.

In other words, "No." All in your imagination. Come back from the extreme. We need more sanity in the middle.

You have less than a month before it can even happen politically. So wait a bit before implying I'm insane please.

Chevy:

Please, I beg you, walk away from your screen, turn off the news station and go sit in a park and watch some kids play for a while.

You've lost your perspective on this.

Charlie, with all due respect, the only ones who have lost their perspective on things are the progressive liberals, who are apparently completely blind to the fact that they have drifted so far from the center into radical leftism that they are nearly indistinguishable from Communists.

Are you implying that not everyone right of Mao is a fascist?

It would seem these are the options that God is allowing us.
It is hard to accept, that our society has degenerated this way, but it has.
I see us really at the Mercy of God.

Who knows?
