According to unnamed Israeli intelligence officers, Israel set up a shell company - "B.A.C" for the purpose of supplying Hezbollah:

Israel had put into motion a plan to establish a shell company that would pose as an international pager producer.

By all appearances, B.A.C. Consulting was a Hungary-based company that was under contract to produce the devices on behalf of a Taiwanese company, Gold Apollo. In fact, it was part of an Israeli front, according to three intelligence officers briefed on the operation. They said at least two other shell companies were created as well to mask the real identities of the people creating the pagers: Israeli intelligence officers.

B.A.C. did take on ordinary clients, for which it produced a range of ordinary pagers. But the only client that really mattered was Hezbollah, and its pagers were far from ordinary. Produced separately, they contained batteries laced with the explosive PETN, according to the three intelligence officers.

The pagers began shipping to Lebanon in the summer of 2022 in small numbers, but production was quickly ramped up after Mr. Nasrallah denounced cellphones

Well, there's a salesman who earned his commission.

I think the concern is rooted in the fact that while they may have been "targeting" the terrorists, doing it via sabotaged devices/items that they're likely to have on them when they're around "non-terrorists" is reckless.

It's reminiscent of old IRA car bomb/sabotage tactics. While it may be intended to hurt a specific target, ignoring the fact that they sometimes drive those cars to a grocery store parking lot or their kids sporting event is a major oversight.

Sure, you could cut a ISIS leaders brake lines in hopes that they get in a wreck, but if they are going to be using that car to pick their kids up from school (in proximity of a bunch of other people), that's putting a bunch of other innocent people at risk.

Even the villain in the movie Scarface (Tony Montana) drew the line at blowing up the car when the guy's wife and kids were in it.
There is risk in War - that is unavoidable.

As it turned out the hit rate on terrorists was massively high.

Compared to the massive hit rate on Israeli civilians , they are doing a whole lot better than the terrorists who have no concern at all for innocents and little regard for human life at all.

Thousands of people were injured Tuesday and several killed when their pagers exploded almost simultaneously across Lebanon, officials said, with Hezbollah confirming some of its members were wounded and blaming the attack on Israel.

A child was among at least nine killed in the blasts, which injured around 2,800 people, Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad said. At least 170 people are in a critical condition, he said, though the nature of the other injuries is unclear.

The extraordinary incident comes amid increased hostility between Hezbollah and Israel, and raises tensions in the region further. Both Lebanon and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the explosions.

This is quite impressive from Mossad and Hezbollah are not exactly good guys. But one of the points of using pagers is that there is no geolocational possibility with them and no triangulation of location is possible if you use one. So basically Mossad exploded all of these devices blind not knowing where these people were, hence children were killed. I assume the device was not big enough to bring down an airplane but the driver of a car could have been crippled and then killed innocent pedestrians. It is the collateral damage that is the problem with this kind of attack.

Including an eight year old girl, an eleven year old boy and people attending the funerals and queuing at the supermarket.

Were all the 40,000+ people murdered in Gaza by Israel TARGETED AS WELL? Or do you condemn that?
I don't "like" anyone dying but in times of war these things occur. However if Hamas had not attacked Israel on 10/7 and if Hezbollah would end its constant missile attacks, ALL these people would still be alive! Do YOU condemn what Hamas and Hezbollah are doing?

At least Israel is trying to only target terrorists but they hide within civilian populations and use them as human shields. They are cowards. On the other hand, Hamas ONLY targeted innocent civilians on 10/7 and Hezbollah fires rockets almost daily at ONLY civilian targets.

IMO, that's the only plausable explanation.

Israel is the only enmey of Hezbollah with the technical and intelligence capabilities to carry out an operation like this. Hezbollah will likely feel forced to respond after suffering such an embarrassing security breach and attack.
I'm sure the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, and many others could have done the same.

Yep it's called war.

Look at Ukraine. The left has no issues with bodies piling up like cordwood when it's wars they want to engage in, but defend yourself from real terrorists and the tears and handkerchiefs come out. Hypocrisy.

If this is true, as a military defensive action by Israel I see far less problem with this attack compared to the purposeful and deliberate slaughter of toddlers by the IDF in Gaza.

However, Israel has caused people to think twice when dealing with the ethnic "Jews" of Revelation 2:9. This will cause a massive rise in what people refer to as "antisemitism". Most will think twice about dealing with an ethnic "Jew" for electronics - especially in the Muslim world. I don't see this necessarily affecting the bottom line of B&H anytime soon.

I also think this will hurt U.S. and European electronics firms when it comes to production. No one will trust that the electronics aren't going to be designed to backfire. on the user.

Next up, they're going to sabotage their Sony Walkman devices so when they use the 'Bass Boost' on a Hoobastank tape, it emits a poison.
I now become anxious when I adjust the tracking on my top loading VHS machine and not even in Hezbollah.

My understanding is that we need to get used to that kind of thing.
I guess we do. It's not like most people really care about other people's dead children unless it is politically convenient.

Actually they do - it is a tragedy when it happens - unless it is planned as part of the terrorists agenda, then it is plainly evil.

Nonsense - only the terrorist were targeted - they were not targeted...
When the pagers were remotely exploded the Israelis doing the exploding had no way of knowing who had them or who was close by.

I note that you don't concede that Israel has bombarded Lebanon and Syria as well as vice versa.

I condemn all violence by Israel, Hamas, Hezbollah and any other actor in the region. Do you condemn the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza by Israel where the total death toll from all causes (inc burial under rubble, starvation, disease, lack of health provision, bad water etc) is estimated at 186,000 - that's more than 150X the October 7 death toll. Do you think the life of one Israeli is worth more than 150X the life of a Palestinian - and the killing didn't start on October 7.

Note that, given you have asked me to condemn Hamas and Hezbollah (which I have just done), if you then fail to condemn Israel then your credibility is destroyed. Israel has killed far more Palestinians than vice versa.

Israelis and Palestinians Killed since 9/29/2000
