Oh, I'm back. Just wanted to say Live Worship - Rescue by Newsong will always hold a special place in my heart as i went through a wonderful personal revival with that dvd that changed my life forever. There were a few things going on, but i do believe that dvd played a significant role in the Lord ministering to me.

No magic formula, but i do believe a sincere desire to know Him plays a role.

So i bought the DVD for the song Rescue, and was drawn to some other songs, but not much to others, but i would sleep sith it on and more and more the other songs would minister to me too. Next thing i knew I'm caught up in a wonderful personal spiritual revival.

My point is not for you to go buy that DVD as it may not have the same affect on you. My point is that if you are a child of God his Spirit will awaken you to what will minister to you and awaken you to Him.

Newsong's Live Worship Rescue will always hold a special place in my heart

@Jo555 I apologize, I didn't mean to be rude calling people close minded. I guess I just feel persecuted a lot for it when it doesnt seem necessary.

I've had the worst times of my life coincidentally I had been listening to worship music for years in an attempt to get closer to Jesus. I was literally going through mental/verbal abusive/chaotic situations during the time.

Last night for example I put on a video about God like I sometimes do(those are easier for me to get into) and just got made fun of by everyone in the room lol. It's just strange.
Count it all joy that you are being persecuted for your faith in God and seeking to get closer to Him. Keep standing up for the Lord and never be discouraged. Do you know if there are any members in your family that were involved in witchcraft or the Masonic Lodge?

Ok, i must be older than i feel. Are they phasing out dvds too. Guess I'll have to get used to streaming, or whatever you call it.

No need to apologize, but appreciate it because I don't get that much anymore, even when awful things done. I do know what you mean and i feel the same way about several areas in Christianity, but many of us were there before we knew better so we have to give grace as it's been given to us by the Lord.

I remember one season in my life feeling quite empty in some Christian circles i ran. Lonely, and thing is I'm one of those people very happy in my own company, and prefer it st times. i found what i was missing out of that environment. Most still Christians, some not.

It felt like everything was so impersonal because most were too busy looking for devils under every rug or so indoctrinated that there wasn't any Spiritual flow, or just being human. It was like stepfordville.

We all need to learn and grow in areas and God wants us to understand that and remain in his love.

I went to a restaurant with a Christian coworker outside of work and she sort of chastised me in s gentle way for not saying grace before picking up my fork. I could sense a bit of superiority spirit it was in, but i just put my fork down and said grace with her remembering the time i was like that and the grace the Lord showed me until i grew, and humbled.

No worries. Just felt like you were criticizing for trying to help you.

God looks at the heart and hopefully we can follow his example as i fail at times too.

You keep listening to that awesome music. Benjamin Hastings has been added to my list.

We know you and Jesus have the last laugh.

Yeah I can understand a lot of that. I see a lot of who I used to be in some of the people now. What else can you do but forgive? And if you don't they may have never forgiven you either

I need to work on some of the things I say. I can be a bit extreme, hot or cold. So either really positive or really negative, it's not a good energy to be putting out for people

I'm glad you liked the music though! They helped me a lot, i'm glad someone else liked them. As much secular music as I listen to, I can still get really hit hard in a good way by worship music when the right ones come along

Liked it. I loved it. Just stay in tune to what the Lord is telling you. Study the Word so you'll be familiar with his ways and it will help grow your faith. Don't do it as a means of brownie points, but as an aid in knowing Him and his ways

And if you find yourself thirsting for God and not having your thirst quenched, try songs that don't emphasize you and your lack. Try songs that emphasize Him and how wonderful He is, and pray to Him to awaken your spirit to Him.

There was a time the stress of hungering and thirsting for God was often stressed in circles i ran in. The focus to sing about it and such, and when I'd feel the pain of an unfulfillment, i was told that is good, im hungering and thirsting for God and keep at it. Eventually it became so painful and i felt no filling i gave it up. Hurt too much. Then i ran into tunes that were more focused on Him and his goodness and how splendid He was and that did it. Probably was more to it, but the main thing was that my spiritual eyes shifted from me, to Him and you cannot get a vision of God and not be changed.

So listen, i'm not trying to cone up with a new formula, the point is getting our focus off of us and on Him. Yes, share your pain, struggles, disappointments, but then look to Him.

And don't worry if it doesn't happen right away. Only He can awaken us to Him. Yes, i believe on s personal level there are things we can do to see if we can jump start that process, but if it doesn't happen when you'd like, trust Him with it in his time and way.

Sometimes He delays because He is working on a misconception with us first. Sometimes we are relying on our own works instead of simply asking. Sometimes He wants to work on others around us before He works on us, and sometimes we don't know so we wait patiently on Him, but we can trust that He's working on it even if we don't see the results yet

There is a lot of discussion on freewill or no real freewill in the theology discussion. Many are for one or the other and i find that everything has it's place in Christ, it's just understanding how the pieces fit in Him.

I see it as God's will and timing as a large circle. Within that circle is our freewill and timing. We can exercise our freewill only within the boundaries of God's will, and that will affect our personal timing, but we cannot exercise our freewill outside of his will and timing

Sometimes He's doing something specific we cannot see, but we can do our part to aid in the growth of our personal relationship with Him while we wait on Him.

Hope that helps some.

Lastly, i personally see nothing wrong with secular music of itself, but if a song is full of perversion or affecting us negatively then it's time to turn from it.

Everything is really just a branch. A branch doesn't have a life of its own. Of its own it's neither good or evil. What makes it good or evil is what it is rooted in. Sometimes it's the branch itself, what it is rooted in, and sometimes it is what we are rooted in.

Hope that helps some.

Ok, i have to post these next two from the Newsong Worship DVD i adore. This first tune wasn't one of my favorites at first, but the more i listened to the dvd (would sleep with it), the more my spirit would arise with this song, and others on it ... Just saying how sometimes we have to give time for his Spirit to work in ours.

Maybe for you it will be other tunes, but these tunes focused on Him really did it for me, and He still uses it to get my spirit stirred.

I listen to some of the most brutal stuff you can image. Except pretty much everything I listen to is Christian or has Christian influence.

Example:

Dude, even the devil can quote scripture, and often does disguise Himself as angel of light.

That is very demonic. He's asking people to let the devil in.

I'm not going to quote a bunch of scriptures to you and tell you how you shouldn't be listening to that because i know that you know better, but he often appears to try and disrupt.a good Jesus filled party.

Personally, I'd throw that one in the fireplace, rebuke all demons that try and cone through that open door, then go praise the Lord.

You keep praising the Lord. Now

Nope. Christian band. I know all about their theology. They are orthodox Christians.
Did he not ask people to let the devil in? Did i miss something cause that is [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] i heard, and not everyone that calls themselves Christian is.

Christian Black Metal, which is the Christian version of the Satanic genre of Black Metal, is comprised of some of the most hated music there is in the world. Why? Because Christians, such as yourself, believe that they are evil. But this does not stop a regular dose of death threats these musicians get from the secular Black Metal crowd because they are Christians. They will often say things that are intentionally done to offend people, in part, because the Truth is offensive. They do not operate on the same paradigm that you do. They will take artistic license to state things in a way where, if you are not paying attention, much like the parables of Jesus, you will not understand. They are edgy. They mean no harm. They just believe that Christians, in large part, have begun to shut off their brains and only accept what they have heard. As such, they are as creative as they are edgy and you have to study to understand. They are, however, completely sold out to Christ. They do not do it for the money as there is no money in Christian Black Metal. It is an acquired taste.

It sounded critical too.
Did he not invite people to let the devil in towards the end?
Listen, I don't know how you got those words in my text, but if you think I'm cursing instead of blessing you are more deceived than i thought

I'm going to be straightforward with you, that is worse than trash.
You can't see how the ficus is on the devil instead of Christ. He is elevating the devil, not Christ.

But if that us what you want to listen to ... You'll ignore the Lord's warning at your own wellbeing.

God bless you
