  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Judge delays Trump hush money sentencing until after election

That doesn’t seem like the actions of someone dead set, paid off and politically motivated against the defendant. That sounds perfectly reasonable and accommodating.
Perhaps it's mutually beneficial. I think Merchan has become fully aware that he's in a very sticky situation.

I've never heard of the “will be wild” tweet until you mentioned it. The lion's share of accusing Trump of mounting a coupe has been based on what he said shortly before the Jan 6th escapade started.

Lemme get this straight, this “new information“ of the “will be wild” tweet didn’t sway your opinion one iota?

However that's moot to the question I asked, so please stop deflecting.
I am not going to answer a question that paints me into a corner.

Trump has had just as much time as before to say/tweet whatever (which I don't keep diligent track of believe it or not). And then there's the three weeks after the election he'll have to say, tweet, organize whatever.
Arguing from ignorance isn’t cute anymore.

So once again, how is a Nov 26 sentencing going to keep him from "mounting a second attempt"?
Perhaps I am incorrect?
It doesn’t actually matter to me when Mister Trump faces the judge for his sentencing.
I voiced an opinion, maybe he will try to subvert the elections process again?

Who knows?

Yes. Trump being sentenced Nov 29th isn't going to keep him from "mounting a second attempt".

Thanks for all the superfluous contention.

We also realize it was the 4 months of fear monger and lying leading up to the election and then the 2 months untill january 9th where they ramped up the lies and attacks. it wasn't just one thing, it was every bit of, "They are going to steal the election it's impossible for them to win." then later, "They stole the election there is no way they could win."

I heard a lot of that in 2016 as well. "The Russians stole the election". "Putin put Trump in the White House". "Trump is Putin's puppet" etc etc. And there was lots of rioting.

No surprise and probably for the best - especially if incarceration is a part of the sentence.
That's rediculous. If incarceration is part of it, he would do it now. The only logical reason to wait is because he doesn't want to let him off the hook until after the election. Duh...

Why is Trump not only going along with, but specifically requesting this course of action? Does he just not see that it is, according to you, detrimental to his election?

yeah, except in that case there was actual evidence and you know, people went to jail and trump confessed to it, so....not the same thing. You have one case all the evidence pointing to him doing it, just needed to be impeached, vs lies and zero evidence found

Trump confessed to being put in the white house by Putin? I'd love to hear or read that confession, where can I find it?

The  emoji I used should have indicated that it's not to be taken seriously. It's just one of umpteen things they're hoping will be detrimental. They're mighty perturbed that nothing they've come up with has fazed anyone choosing Trump, and has probably actually increased his voter base because many see it for what it is.

What if he's elected President? Can he do that in prison? ;)

No, why do you think that? If there is prison time imposed now it could be seen as election interference and generate a huge stink.

Why in the world do you think Judge Merchan would let Donald off the hook? He was found guilty on 34 felony counts and 10 or so counts of contempt of court, which was contempt for this judge, his clerk and the US justice system. The judge won't, probably, throw the book at him, but he'll likely strike a fair balance as he has so far.

There was a full on attempt that included certain senators, a justice's wife and a lot of money. There was an actual plan that they actually attempted. The riot in the capitol was just the culmination, not a spontaneous outburst from overly enthusiastic supporters.

Yes! There is nothing in the Constitution that prohibits it. A bit awkward though. ^_^

But I seriously doubt Trump would be sentenced to state prison. Home confinement maybe, and if the White House were home, then perfect!

Or, I'm just spitballing here, they actually think what Trump did was illegal and wrong instead of just an unwarranted persecution for political gain.

They think it's considerably more minor than what it was conflated into.

The White House must be a perfect place to be cooped up. I hear there are plenty of ghosts that can keep people company....and the views are beautiful...
