CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

6 pages later, and I'm still not clear on how the Left differentiates riots from peaceful protests.
The protests haven't started yet; but there was a pre protest, protest, yesterday.
Things heated up, and I read some aggressive language from one of the protest leaders, Jinan, in the Chicago Sun Times. Police made arrests.
I'm not sure that it would be appropriate to post the article here.

How do you know it was a protest? I thought these terms confused you. Something tells me that if a riot breaks out you'll tell us all about it immediately.

I don't know it was a protest. That is what the Liberal media source called it. With the threatening speech, the aggressive actions. and the arrests that this bias media source reported; it could have well been a riot.

Chicago businesses boarding up, bracing for protests ahead of Democratic National Convention
Several downtown Chicago businesses have been boarded up as concerns run high over protests and potential unrest as the Democratic National Convention (DNC) kicks off on Monday.
"We have experience with this, and the city doesn't have a great track record with protecting their businesses or their citizens' property. So we want to be preemptive and board up and in advance of the Democratic convention," Scott Shapiro, owner of Syd Jerome, told Fox News as he boarded up his business.
