How long will it be before Kamala does an in-depth interview or even a press conference where she takes questions

The NY Times, hahahahaha. The NY Times has been annoyed with Biden/Harris since the spring as Biden wouldn't sit down for an exclusive interview with them as if the NY Times is special. They are pouting. When the "Joe is old" thing went on, the NY Times went all in against him. They weren't exactly in the "Replace him with Harris" camp either editorially.
Until recently, the New York Times was seen by most Democrats as the gold standard within the mainstream media. Now that even they are turning against Biden and Harris, they are almost as marginalized as fox. Weird!

The left tends to be fickle that way......and no, I am not talking about the Wisconsin football coach....

It seems they're using the same "basement strategy" that was almost successful with Biden until he did the debate. They're going to keep Kamala Harris from the press as much as possible so there's less chance of her saying or doing something crazy, and they're going to do at least one month of debate rehearsals this time.

If your talking about reporting, the NYT has very good reporting and reporters, but this is about editorial decisions and it is important to remember a few things:

1. The NY Times is a New York paper. It is oriented toward NYC, despite the national coverage and bizarre references to it being the "paper of record". (That last bit usually refers in other contexts to the papers that publish government legal notices. I can guarantee you that no entity in my state publishes legal notices in the NYT.)

2. Even as a NYC paper, their focus seems to be on the upper middle class and higher. Certainly the editors and owners think of themselves as the kind of people who get invited to fancy cocktail parties on the Upper East Side with the cultural elite of the city.

3. Editorially, the NY Times is establishment center left/Democrat with the op ed/columinst ranging across the spectrum from centerish right to centerish left.

4. The NY Times is *definitely* convinced of their own importance in the progress of history and it goes to their heads. They think important US politicians and government officials (like the President) *owe* them an interview. (They do not. They can and should talk to whatever media outlets the like.)

When Pres. Biden kept turning down NY TImes interview requests and taking some interviews with other outlets, their response was to complain about it and crank up the "Biden is old" narrative as hard as anyone in MSM. After the debate they went all in for "Biden must step aside" but not just the most tactically sound version (endorsing Harris before the convention, what happened), but propagated the more crazy versions like resigning from office, mini-primaries, contested conventions, alternative candidates, etc.

It is a mistake to think that the NY Times is just "in the tank" for whomever is popular in the Democratic party.

The current "kerfuffle" about VP Harris taking interviews seems to be more of the same. Much of the WH/Political press seems to suffer from the same sense of entitlement.

If VP Harris wants to put and end to this narrative and lay it bare, she should give an interview to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel or Detroit Free Press or Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Nope, one is not enough......not enough ammunition so we can ridicule her abilities, knowledge, and 'word saladgese'. She has to do at least the same number as Trump since his nomination......which means she is already waaaaay behind the 8 ball. BTW, any debates against the Don don't count.
A red light goes on slightly longer than he’d like, the man gives an “interview” about it. And it’s not an interview so much as it is an “old man yells at clouds” scenario.

Keeping up with the number of “interviews” he does would be functionally impossible, especially for a candidate who is more serious about the election than he clearly is.

Nothing you said made any sense.....which isn't surprising.

Yes, I forgot my audience and should have made it a bit simpler.

No candidates will ever give as many interviews as Trump as he has them a lot. Anytime he is a little inconvenienced or has the impulse of any sort, he does an interview. However, his interviews are basically him incoherently ranting about things or people. Any candidate that wants to be taken seriously is more likely to do fewer but more substantive interviews, vs Trump who is not to be taken seriously.

The most consistent aspect of Trump's personality is the desire to be considered "respectable" and part of "society". He *wants* to be interviewed by the major media, especially the NY Times. He craves the attention. It's hard for any candidate to compete with that level of thirst. Here's an interesting question I don't know the answer to: During the period from when Ron DeSantis declared his candidacy until Trump declared his, how many interviews did each (candidate DeSantis, non-candidate Trump) do with major/national media? I wonder...

I think it’s what he desires but I don’t think he takes the methods to achieving it seriously. I think he just kind of expects existing is enough to get it and that he doesn’t treat seriously any process that he could use to get any sort of respect or credibility. I think he is a lazy man who expects merely being himself is enough to get what he wants.

I think people who think she is ignorant is uninformed or easily swayed by propaganda at the expense of free thought, but whatever.

No one threw Biden under the bus. He broke his own pledge to serve just one term. Did you see his debate performance? He basically layed down in front of the bus all on his own.

Fortunately we dont have to test how deep in the barrel we the people will delve to defeat Trump. Harris is a decent, not great - but not bad - candidate.
An honest post

Let her show herself to be intelligent then. She's had plenty of opportunities so far, but still refuses to show us she's intelligent.
Is it possible that she's about as intelligent as Biden is "sharp as a tack, full of energy, and running circles around everyone else"?
