It is getting late here, so God bless. But yes, the tribulation will happen in the future, as end times stuff will get worse.I was gonna respond with something like, "oh, it's been this bad before", but then I remembered this Scripture... apparently we cannot imagine how bad it's going to be in comparison to times past:
Matthew 24:21-22 NKJV
"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened."
If it's true that the quality of life is better for most people than any time in history, apparently it isn't going to last.
As for today, though I'm not a great student of comparative history, I have to wonder whether we are using the best criteria to judge that quality of life. Just one of many factors to consider (in addition to the noted increase in violence) - despite the wealth of the nations, the earth is still plagued by mass starvation in oppressed countries (and even in 'free' countries). We have all the resources to provide for the whole earth, always have I would hazard to guess, but just can't seem to conquer the obstacles to actually stop talking and do it.
And doesn't it seem obscene somehow that those blessed with resources lavish our hard-earned money on being entertained to death, in a futile attempt to escape the vacuousness of our temporal ambitions?
Ah yes, we have been here before... "let them eat cake" and "the earth was filled with violence."
No wonder that God's patience with humankind will wear thin one day. Thankfully there's still hope for the individual through Jesus Christ:
John 16:33 NIV
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
