All prior occupants of the White House, and most people, are morally superior to Donald Trump.

Did you forget about JFK who most consider as being a great President? He was not exactly a poster child for high morals.
This is the man who on tape, said he can grab women by......
As opposed to a man who has actually been accused of sexual crimes by various women and showering with his own daughter!

....and then paid the National Inquirer to "catch and kill" the story of his sleeping with a porn star.
All the while over 100 NDA's from various politicians paid around 17 million for their science. Let's be fair here!
He was elected anyway. And today, rather than hold him to account, many continue to deflect and attack our system of justice.
The system that goes after the conservatives while protecting many liberals. Do we really have to make a list to prove this is true?

Sure, JFK has his mistreses. He's still a saint compared to Trump.

Trump's utter lack of *any* moral character and integrity is on full display. His supporters don't care.

If rebublicans want to be respected, they can start be electing candidates other than Trump and his ilk.

No, that’s not what I said. Democrats are happy he got a guilty verdict but why? If he doesn’t go to jail he will still be running for president.
???

If Trump is sentenced to some jail time on July 11th, he will continue to run for president. His solid supporters will be more likely to come out and vote.

We all will have to accept what comes of this.
We do NOT all have to accept the rulings of the courts and the appeals courts.

Many have not and will not accept the many decisions decided since the 2020 election.

I don't think the courts are all biased democrats. But some judges are. There are a fair number in NYC, I'm pretty sure. And let's be honest here for a minute: Trump has been a known quantity there for a very long time. And he's been very successful, often with extreme bullying tactics. I have no doubt he's made a lot of powerful enemies, as I believe we are seeing in this trial. Think of the cop that catches a guy in a powerful, heavily modified car that they have been trying to nab for years, and he's going five over, so the cop says he was going 30 over and arrests him because "he deserves it". I think that may be along the lines of what is going on in NY.

But the thing is, you don't get to Trump's position by playing 100% by the rules*. You'll be eaten alive in that environment. i.e. what we have is a courtroom of sharks trying to use the courtroom of public opinion to nail one of their own that always got the best of them. But once this thing gets out of the shark tank and has to stand on its particular merits, expect the whole thing to get utterly wiped out. I actually have zero doubt. I watched the Zimmerman and Rittenhouse trials the same way. The difference is that they were not powerful "movers and shakers" that needed to be "put in their place", so the actual trials were a lot more fair. And the results reflected it. Two DA's embarrassed themselves. And I saw it coming as soon as they decided to press charges. I followed both closely. But not having had TV since 1997, I got my information from more reliable and trustworthy sources. I stopped trusting the MSM when I learned of Cronkite's ridiculously faulty coverage of the Tet Offensive. It changed everything for me.

*I was a commercial real estate agent in Seattle back in the early 1980's. I saw how the "big boys" get things done. Don't tell anybody, but if the police, FBI, etc. enforced the law to the letter, the entire country would be in prison. And I don't believe that is an exaggeration.
Surely, the courts and judges are filled with Democrats, even the hundreds appointed by Trump. How else could Trump's team lose so many court cases and appeals with regard to the 2020 election?

Perhaps because they went to court without any evidence to support them?

Attempting to overturn election results in service of Donald Trump’s lie about voter fraud in his defeat by Joe Biden, the former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani told an Arizona official: “We’ve got lots of theories. We just don’t have the evidence.”
On Nov. 7, the day most media outlets called the race for Joe Biden, Rudy Giuliani stood outside a landscaping business in Philadelphia, making false claims about widespread election malfeasance.

“This is a gross miscarriage of the process that would assure that these ballots are not fraudulent,” he said. “It’s a fraud, an absolute fraud.”

Under questioning from a federal judge in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, Mr. Giuliani made a different admission: “This is not a fraud case,” he said.

Appearing before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, she agreed to serve six years of probation, pay a $6,000 fine, pay $2,700 to the Georgia secretary of state’s office and testify truthfully at co-defendants’ trials.......

Powell is a former federal prosecutor and defense attorney who, despite having no background in election law, has played a prominent role in spreading baseless conspiracy theories about election fraud. She frequently appeared on Fox News after the 2020 election to say that Dominion Voting Systems had rigged its voting machines to take away votes from Trump. Dominion, which settled a $787 million defamation lawsuit with Fox News, has filed its own defamation suit against Powell.

On election night, numerous aides advised Trump against declaring victory but to instead wait for his campaign team to draw more data. Fox News, a favorite Trump news outlet, had called the Arizona race for Biden, but votes were still being counted elsewhere. Instead of listening to his own campaign advisers, however, the irritated ex-president leaned on the advice of Rudy Giuliani, who was described multiple times by witnesses as “inebriated” and had told a crowd of his most loyal supporters still gathered at the White House, “frankly we did win this election.”
Trump's team went to court with drunken fantasies, hearsay, and conspiracy theories and bravado, but no evidence.

The Trump campaign has repeatedly cited the hundreds of sworn affidavits it has assembled. It has even shown stacks of them to illustrate the supposed heft of its legal case. Many of them are not available because they haven’t been filed in actual lawsuits or made available publicly. (Giuliani cited the alleged targeting of their authors for keeping them obscured.)
But among the witnesses who have had their allegations aired in court, many have been dismissed by judges as inadmissible or not credible. One particularly high-profile one alleged many precincts in Michigan had more votes than actual voters, but shortly after Giuliani et al. raised the issue Thursday — alongside their pleas to take the affidavits seriously — it fell apart.

JFK did not demonstrate a pattern of fraud. He was never found in court to be liable for rape.

Trump has shown a pattern of fraudulent financial activity, not paying for services and deceiving banks and people, and has been found liable for rape. Evidence shows he conspired to hide National Security documents at Mar-a-Lago from the FBI.

JFK took national security seriously. He paid his bills. He never went bankrupt or deceived students at a fake university.

That is true. Many trumpers will likely be more energized to turn out at the voting booth. But conversely, some may be less likely after the felony convictions. I think it's a wash. And I agree with Adam56 on this one. I don't think it matters much. If republicans nominate Donald Trump it will probably be viewed by historians as their worst choice in American history. And rightfully so.

worst choice?

Yes, Trump is the least qualified candidate ever to be nominated, presuming that he is nominated.

However, from a political perspective, there are worse. After all, Trump has a chance to win.

Yeah, people keep saying Trump has a chance to win. I feel like it's merely a continuation of the whole Trump mass delusion that is encumbering many Americans. He lost handily last time. And that was before trying to overturn the certified election results, hiding stolen government documents and earning several felony criminal convictions. I just have an extremely difficult time envisioning Donald Trump winning, without cheating of course. Tribalism is the bane of America.

Yes, really handily. ???

If 25,000 who voted for Biden had voted for Trump, Trump would have been president.
Or, if Trump got 45,000 more to come out to vote for him, Trump would have been president.
Or, if 45,000 Biden voters had stayed home, Trump would have been president.
===========================
Let's put this error to bed. The 2020 election results were 306-232. Switch 45,000 votes in three states and the result is 269-269, a tie. In that case, the decision is made in the House, with each state having one vote, with Trump having an easy win (since Republicans control more states).

ARIZ 11 electoral votes (margin 12,000 votes)
GA 16 electoral votes (margin 12,000 votes)
WIS 10 electoral votes (margin 21,000 votes)

THREE STATES
37 electoral votes (margin 45,000 votes)

NEW BIDEN TOTAL 269 electoral votes (306 less 37 = 269)
NEW TRUMP TOTAL 269 electoral votes (232 plus 37 = 269)

Yes, let's do put the past to bed. The way I see it, one can run from it or learn from it. Joe Biden earned approximately 7,000,000 more American votes than did Mr Trump in 2020. Republicans choose to run from this fact rather than learn from repeating the Trump mistake. And the Trump mistake seems to keep snowballing now. It's leading politicians to act like children just like Trump and many of his voters. At some point one runs out of collateral if one keeps doubling down on a bad bet.

It's a bit more complicated than that. There are not just federal courts. e.g. this one wasn't. And his MO is to lose in the lower courts and win in the higher courts. And not because of bias in the higher courts, but because of higher quality judges. That's why the SCOTUS gave a 9/0 spanking to Colorado.

I learned a long time ago to be unmoved by lower courts deciding against him, as I am with this one.

This was such a fair trial with a judge who forbids the defense from calling a hostile witness.

Of course, a lawsuit originated from the law firm of Michael Avenatti must be the gold standard also.

In fact, the same hostile witness that was sought by the Trump defense is free to thumb his nose at congress.

Melania and Ivanka were no shows for the jurors guilty verdict. That suggests they knew that Trump's machinations were based to some extent on "The Art Of The (sound mind) Deal" and not on some addiction to a mind altering drug..

Jill Biden has been showing support for Hunter by being seated behind him every day. So should we assume Mrs. Biden believes Hunter's dishonesty was because of his cocaine addiction or his sound state of mind.

Based on one's soundness of mind who do you believe is more guilty for their misleading actions? It's rather obvious that Trump is somewhat of an unremorseful pathological liar.

There Are Two Sides To Every Coin

Is it a tossup as to who we should pity the most: Someone with a sound mind(wink) or someone lacking a sound mind?

I get it. You will be right when Biden wins the popular vote by 5 million votes.

Of course, Trump would very likely be president.

It is Democrats that are the ones that need to focus on the 2020 results. They did NOT win in a landslide. If they believe that, they will surely lose. Democrats can win the popular vote this time by 10 million votes (just get coastal urban voters to turn out). The Republicans RIGHTLY don't care. Their goal isn't to win the popular vote, a goal that won't mean anything without a constitutional amendment to change our system of federal elections.

After the 2020 elections, Trump lost all but one election case. The vast majority were in federal courts.
