How do you find out that people really believe something that they don't think they believe? It sounds like you have some kind of sinister mind reading superpower.

If I met a trans woman who claimed to be a real woman.....I would try to steer the conversation towards the wide variety of woman in regards to personality, temperament, intelligence, career, etc.

Then I would slip in the question "at what age did you first realize that you really wished you were a woman?"

Generally speaking, there's 2 likely answers this person will give....

1. They'll give me an age....and an anecdote.....about the first time they realized they were obsessed with becoming a woman.

2. They'll be offended....and point out they are a woman and always have been.

The few times I've done this, I've only gotten answers that would fall under #1. The fact that they want to be a woman, seems to clearly indicate that they are fully aware that they aren't a woman.

Good question though.

Yeah, that's about what I have experienced.. At least you're talking to real transgender people about it.

All you have told me so far is that you know better what I believe than I do, you know better what trans women believe than they do, and then you tried to sell me a perverse notion of what trans women are and what they really want. It seemed like it might be some kind of a crisis to me.Sorry.
I showed you what they believe. It's written down in many places. Sorry it debunks anything you think is going g on. It's obvious what you believe, you've proclaimed it loud enough. You may not believe they are women, but everything you do and say supports them in believing it.
But not necessarily a woman according to your definition.
I thought you said they weren't women either.

I have no right to tell them that, anyway. They don't need permission from me.
Actually thats not true. Society has a right to do that. Society has as a matter of fact, but now the transgender people want to change that.
Not if I didn't invoke your definition of "woman." Of course I don't really care if they get naked with women in their locker room, and dealing with trans in sports is way beyond anything I know about athletics. Talk to the experts if you want to know what's going on.
I thought you said they weren't women. Did you change your mind?

I understand your meaning. That doesn't mean that I have to apply it in all cases. I can, if I want, expand the meaning to include trans women in certain environments, like the workplace. You have a meaning that you assign to "woman" but you don't own the word, so just because I use the term "woman" to describe a trans woman at work, doesn't mean that I am invoking your meaning.
That's nonsense. You've just stated that the word woman has no meaning. In fact you've just laid out the argument that language and science have no meaning.

With a trans teen, if talk therapy isn't enough, they will try medication. I'm not a doctor so I don't know what medication they would try first. Perhaps an antidepressant because often, trans people are also treated for depression and/or anxiety. If the doctor, teen, and parents, agree that a transition has become the best form of treatment, perhaps they prescribe a cycle of one of the drugs used to begin a transition. After the first round, the teen would likely be evaluated and they would agree on the next step. So again, I don't think there is any other diagnosis besides gender dysphoria that is treated by a physical intervention and I know it's not something that happens overnight like getting penicillin, painkillers, or allergy medicine etc.
We've already proven to you that you are wrong. Are you aware that the WPATH guidelines don't require any therapy? Those are the guidelines being used in Affirmative Care.
Every teen would have their own treatment plan agreed upon by the doctor, the teen, and the parent(s). I find it unlikely that a viable treatment plan for a teen who believes they are a dog would be more intensive treatment in a specialty. I am not aware of a treatment plan that includes rabi shots or the other physical interventions you mentioned. I could see it being possible that the teen could be treated with some kind of psychotropic medication.
So if the doctor, parents and child agree that you are fine with the kid being transitioned to a dog then. Why would the kid not be given those medications? After all the doctor parents and child all agree they are a dog. Why would they give them psychotropic drugs? I thought the child's feelings and belief about themselves is what mattered. Affirmative Care would give the child whatever they need in order to live thier life as a dog.
Why, if their doctor doesn't object or their parents. Who are you to determine the treatment of another person's child?
Because the parents are listening to the professionals you so highly revere and the professionals are being driven by money along with a failed trans activist organization. Who admitted that neither the parents nor the kids have any idea what the effects of the treatments are.

See above, the two disorders are not related other than them wanting to be something other than they are. I'm pretty sure they draw the line at transspecies medication/surgery though perhaps someone could alter their looks with the help of a plastic surgeon, they may be able to change parts of their anatomy to resemble their animal of choice.
This shouldn't he done to kids.

you honestly believe that children don't know what they want half the time? In my experience, they always know exactly what they want. Does it mean we give them anything they want no matter the consequences?
They think they know what they want. One minute they want one thing and the next something else. And often when they get it they realize it's nit what they wanted after all.

No we don't give them whatever they want. And in thus case since we are dealing with mental health issues it is even more imperative they don't get what they want.

THat's what doctors are for and that's why there are laws.
The doctors have failed and that's why there is a law in SC now.

Now you're just being silly. A word can have more than one meaning depending on context, without destroying the meaning of language.

I believe you said it mire than once that you definition of woman is different than mine. That's a statement that clearly implies that we all can have a different definition of woman and it's valid. When you give the power to define a word in a language to individuals and they can define it anyway they want you have just made the word meaningless.

A woman is an adult human female. Science has defined what a male and female is based upon biological and provable objective realities.

Which defies the wild assertion that you can define woman any way you want to and it's just as valid as how any one else wants to define woman.

Can you define cat anyway you want and it's a valid definition? Can everyone define it any way they want and it's valid?

What about human?
Or perhaps five?

The question still remains on the table fir you to answer. What IS a woman?
I believe you answered this with a biological answer but then tossed in something about what someone wants to be identified as in the workplace and in the social area. But what IS that thing they want to be seen as?

This may or may not be on topic, but I know that giving transgenders their own spaces has been mentioned here. Just read an article that in Seattle there is a softball league dedicated to accommodating just that.

Have you been to Seatac lately? Saw they put in gender nonspecific restrooms.

There are no attacks or propaganda.

Ignoring the examples I posted don't make them go away.

People can “self identify” as whatever they chose.

They does not mean they are truly what they say they are and everyone must accept it.
I'll ask again : Can we substitute in other groups whose self-identity isn't based on empirical verifiable facts? Or does this only apply to ones targeted by GOP propaganda?

I noticed you didn't answer the question. Would those people be delusional or not.
Why are you asking me? They are your imaginary examples. I guess since they're not real we can make them be anything we dream. Maybe one of them will grow up to be an astronaut or something motivational like that. Or it could be a case where we ask chat GPT to come up with a story for them, that'd probably be fun ... as just as much of a distraction from my posts as this question.

Repeating yourself doesn’t make it right.

No, I don’t have to accept trans propaganda and neither does anyone else.

If you are XY and an adult? You’re a man. If you’re XX and an adult? You’re a woman. There are others that are intersex because of birth defects.

Just because someone self identifies as something doesn’t make it true.

This has nothing to do with Republicans or minorities.

It’s logical and scientific.

I've learned thar when someone dodges a question this hard they absolutely see the problem with their stance. You know the person is delusional, but don't want to admit it because it means they understand that trans people are too. But they dint want to admit that either.

So if someone really believes they are a cat, in the deepest fibres of their being and they live like it, litter boxes, cat food, the whole works you know they are delusional. Every circumstance involving anything representing reality like this you know its delusional. EXCEPT trans people who claim to be the opposite sex and take drugs, live like and sometimes have surgeries, well they aren't. There is nothing wrong with them, right?

And doesn't matter what they grow up to be. When you quit dodging maybe I'll respond to your posts.

Sure we can. And generally we would call that faith based. Are you saying then that transgenderism is faith based? If not then what are you saying?

I am finding that the left just does not wish to say transgenders are delusional if they really believe they are the opposite sex. It may be just because they want to be polite.

But let's say that's true, that they know, but don't want to say.

I wonder what they are really afraid of if they admit it? What's the downside of admitting that? How does that change anything? Will that change that:
1. Trans people should be referred to with the pronouns they desire?
2. Trans people should be allowed into the bathrooms they want?
3. Transpeople should be allowed into the locker rooms they want?
4. Trans people should be allowed into women's sports?

What's so bad about a tranas person being mentally ill?

Mental illness comes in all kinds of shapes. And they all deserve to be treated for it.

Is rhe real argument here rhat they aren't mentally ill?

Or is rhe real argument that they are, but we have a disagreement on how they should be treated?
