How do you politely turn away a Jehovah Witness at your door?

You can call the local meetinghouse and ask them to put you on the "do not contact" address list. I am on the list, they never stop even if they park out front.
Well said! I’ve never had a JW or LDS come to my door, but it apparently happened to my mom in my hometown in the 90s.

I never knew that!

Thanks!

Why do you want them to understand that? Why do you expect anything from them? Just let them know you are busy and do not have the time. Or that you are not interested. They have a high rejection rate. But if they can get two or three percent that is better than nothing.
I've told them that I'm not interested in a study. If you tell them that you're busy, they just feel encouraged to come back at a 'more convenient' time. They're very persistent.

I've had LDS come to my door too. Said they would cut my grass. (I passed on that.) But they at least quit coming, the JW's are on my street a lot.

Jehovah Witnesses have been knocking on my door. I was hoping there was a polite way to turn them away. I don't want to get into a debate with them, but I want them to understand that I have no desire to study their bible.
Ask if you can lay hands on them and pray for them. They will not allow it.

We have sat down and studied with JW's and Mormons. They have both failed to convince me that their teachings line up with the Bible.
I read the JW bible, they altered it quite a bit to fit their agenda. From what I understand, the Mormons do too.

I've often found a "No thank you" has generally worked, unless they are especially pushy. Repeating "No thank you" in a cordial way usually, eventually, lets them get the point that you aren't interested.

It's also how I deal with door-to-door sales representatives who want to replace my roofing, or charge me 300 dollars a month for pest control.

Here's an idea. When you hear them knock, stand behind the door as you open it so they can't see you and, in the most Dracula like voice you can muster, say:

"Plllleeeeeaaaazzzee, Cooomme iinnnnn! ... I've beeeeen exPECTING YOuuuuuuuuu !" And just stand there behind the open door, remaining silent.

If you do that, I bet they'll NEVER come back ! :p

From what I understand, the Mormons do too.
Joseph Smith and John Calvin both teach that it was God's will for Adam and Eve to sin. That He planed it that way from the beginning.

I'm pretty sure it has been at least twenty years since they came to my door. One time I offered them some literature about the Trinity and said I used to be a non-Trinitarian Mormon, but after studying the Bible I became a Trinitarian. My literature was what I had made copies of on my printer. Prior to that (in another location) I'd tell them, "I'll take your literature if you'll take mine."

I spoke to Mormon missionaries for years, but I'm old now so I put a "No Soliciting" magnet on my door. It works.

@Crystal-J Is God weaker than Satan as well as Adam and Eve?

The phrase "God's plans cannot be thwarted" is based on the Bible verse Job 42:2, which says, "I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted". This verse is said to teach about God's sovereignty, control, and absolute rule, and that no one can stop him from accomplishing his will. The word "thwarted" means to be twisted, messed up, or
squashed.

Smile and tell them you already have a good church (when you do), and tell them they should really come and try out your church. Like "The preaching is great -- you'd like it!" or such.

Mormons are trained to avoid knocking on doors with "No Soliciting" signs. I'm an ex-Mormon. If your door is wood, you can put a sign in your yard or window.

Ask a Mormon why their father god had sex with his daughter the Virgin Mary so she could give birth to Jesus. That is a secret LDS teaching!

God is not willing that any should perish, but we still have to make the right choices. 2 PETER 3 9 "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance"

Not equal. Jesus is resurrected. Satan will never be resurrect or earn godhood. All Mormons are supposed to earn godhood. One of the many requirements of earning godhood is gaining a physical body and a resurrection.

Before coming to earth, according to Mormonism, humans were spirits. In the spirit world Satan volunteered to save all humans by causing them to be saved. Wrong plan according to Joseph Smith! There was a war. Anyone who liked Satan's plan was denied coming to earth to obtain a body and opportunity to earn godhood. Prior to that all spirits were children of Mormon heavenly father and a heavenly mother. So, you see, Satan was Jesus' brother and our brother, too.

But you are right, Chrystal! Mormons are WAY off.

Do we have to earn salvation or believe Epheians 2?
