How exactly does a president serve from jail? Seriously, just fill me in on how this works.
Guess they will have to figure it out should it come to pass. However that is not relevant to the discussion at hand. Jail does not limit a person from running from office.

If he “goes to prison” but wins the election we will (all) find out, won’t we?

Sentencing and appeal

The 34 charges against the former president are Class E felonies, the lowest level in New York law. As a first-time offender, Trump is unlikely to face any prison time.

However, that’s up to Merchan, who will sentence Trump on July 11.

Trump, however, has said he will appeal. The typical appeals process for a convicted defendant in New York state can take almost a year or more, but a defendant can’t appeal until after sentencing. After that, Trump will have 30 days to file a notice of appeal. His team would then typically have six months to complete procedural requirements such as filing their appellate argument as well as filing other relevant documents like the trial transcripts.

Now if he’d be sent to jail…..and a real cell not some cushy place maybe he’d learn something. But I still doubt it.
I predict that, if this were to happen, the American people will understand something that many of us already know. There is a two-tier justice system among the elites. The elites who are in power don't have to worry about prison time for their crimes. Whereas, the elites who ain't in power do indeed have to worry about being targeted by the ones who are currently holding all the power of the various levels of the justice system.

the Deep State's respect for the rule of law
So, are you admitting that there is a Deep State which has no accountability to the voters of the USA?

A sorta kinda similar case in New York:

In May, Brega pleaded guilty in Rockland County Court to a felony count of first-degree falsifying business records related to bundling campaign contributions under other people's names in 2013 to then Rockland Legislator Ilan Schoenberger, D-Ramapo.

He got a year for that one count, but possibly the judge was swayed by the fact that Brega also got 4+ years for bribery and other crimes in a related federal case.

The January 6th "criminals", know this well. charged with Something like being in a restricted area or something like that. It was really awful what happened with many of those people.

Alan Dershwitz law professor Harvard, mentioned the issue of sentencing before appeal. He said that Trump should ask for immediate sentencing to speed up the process. He does not believe New York courts will overturn this. To ask for sentencing is to speed up to hopefully get the case into federal courts. But I am skeptical the judge will even do that.

They need to make an amendment to prevent that from happening. When it was written, I’m sure no one anticipated a convicted felon would try to run for the President of the United States.
It's happened before. Twice, in fact. Eugene V. Debs and Lyndon LaRouche both ran for President while incarcerated.

They even got votes. Not much, admittedly, but a few.

Seems there are people today more willing to vote for a convicted felon than there used to be.

Doesn't it already provide for that? Isn't that what Colorado took him off the Ballot for?

Well nobody has ever had a NON DICLOSURE AGREEMENT, turned into a campaign expense.

I’m neither a Democrat or a Republican but if I had to label myself I’d say R. Still, I do not want that convicted felon to serve another term.
Yes, many extend that and believe he shouldn’t run for President.

Are you against him running for President?

How do you know they just don't want him to be President? Because he can still run for President as a felon.
They explicitly state “there is nothing more important than stopping trump”

Were they waiting on appeal? I read of one case where a man had another person run in his place. If I remember correctly, it was somewhat futile, but IF, he won he could not take office. Technicalities I guress.

Including his constitutional rights, and actually applying law? That is going to ruin this country.

Yup, they specifically don’t care about breaking laws as long as they can stop Trump.

No idea. I believe both were incarcerated when they ran, but I don't know the status of any sppeals.

We've yet to have a president elected while incarcerated, so if it does happen, the courts will need to rule on any necessary issues.

And they do not care about court decisions either. Lord knows the complaints against the Supreme court. Alito's wife flying a flag for crying out loud, And they want him to recuse himself.
