Earth was created on Day One of the Creation Week.
"Light" was created on Day 1 after the Earth was already made.
It just does sound too Godly/majesty to me :)
He is the same God Who made feces. (And He called it good...! [Genesis 1:31])
Must your concept of Majesty be appeased?

"Light" was created on Day 1 after the Earth was already made.

Yes, indeed.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth
[← first thing created] was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light
[← created after the earth]: and there was light.

Thanks for the reference. This is how to do referencing in a scholarly manner:
  1. Display and indent the quoted text.
  2. Selectively bold the relevant keywords that are important to the point that you are making. No need to bold the entire sentence. Have a laser-sharp focus.
  3. Be concise and precise to the point. No need to quote the whole chapter.
This is what I do for others who read my posts. It is a standard high-school scholarship. If you practice this, I guarantee you: it will improve your analytical thinking. In any case, no one is required to do it :)

Before Day 2, the domain that is now occupied by clouds & stars was all water per Gen. 1:6-8, 14-19.

6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” 7 Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under* the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. 17 God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

*9 Then God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Before Day 2, the domain that is now occupied by clouds & stars was all water per Gen. 1:6-8, 14-19.

Before Day Two there was:
  1. God
  2. Angels
  3. Heaven
  4. Earth, as a mass of seawater in the hollow of God's hand
6 Then God said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

And what does God mean by dividing the WATERS from the WATERS?

Two bodies of water are mentioned.

How did they become two bodies?

The best way I can explain it is to take a glass of water with a flat piston about a quarter of the way down the glass.

Now ... simply pull up on the piston, and it will divide the water under the piston from the water above the piston, creating an expanse of air between them.

Notice you now have a "firmament (expanse of air) in the midst of the waters, dividing the waters from the waters."

Earth, as a mass of seawater in the hollow of God's hand
The Earth was always solid just covered in water, as revealed in Gen. 1:9.
“Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.
And what does God mean by dividing the WATERS from the WATERS?

Two bodies of water are mentioned.
Prior to Day 2, the water was not separated into two domains, per Gen.1:2.
The earth was without form, and void; [Its Gen. 1:1 state.]
and darkness was on the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
...a "firmament (expanse of air) in the midst of the waters, dividing the waters from the waters."
The firmament must extend beyond our atmosphere to the upper waters, because that is where the stars are.

The Earth was always solid ...

No.

... just covered in water, as revealed in Gen. 1:9.

No.

“Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.

This is why I think it's seawater.

Seawater contains every element on the Periodic Table except for the synthetic elements.

When God created the landmass, He simply had the elements in the seawater come together to form it.

Then He ordered the water to stand aside and let the landmass appear.

Prior to Day 2, the water was not separated into two domains, per Gen.1:2.

That is correct.

Here's how I interpret the first three days of the Creation Week:

Day One
  1. God speaks and heaven is created.
  2. God speaks again and creates a mass of seawater in the hollow of His hand.
  3. The Spirit moves around this mass of water, taking measurements and other things.
  4. God speaks again, and the light appears. This includes the entire electromagnetic spectrum, along with the four physical forces of the universe. Gravity now shapes the earth (which I like to call terra aqua) into a ball of seawater.
  5. God sets the earth spinning, and momentum shapes it into an oblate spheroid.
Day Two
  1. God orders some of the elements in the seawater -- specifically Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Carbon -- to come together under the surface and shear off and balloon outward, separating the top layer from the bottom; and the atmosphere is created. The top layer is taken into outer space to return later in Noah's time.
  2. God calls this firmament "Heaven." It is what we call the "atmosphere;" and it is one of three "heaven/firmaments" created in Genesis 1. Outer space and Heaven proper being the other two.
Day Three
  1. God speaks to the water again, and more elements come together -- Iron, Silicon, Copper, Carbon etc and so on -- and the landmass is created.
  2. Verse 9, God now orders the water to stand aside and let the landmass appear.
  3. God labels the landmass "Earth," and the waters that He has been speaking to "Seas".
  4. God then terraforms Earth with angiosperms.

When you consider the temperature of space is absolute zero which is -273 C it doesn't make much sense that the sun would be created after the Earth. You can't create anything in -273 C. God is logical. The Bible is logical. It doesn't seem logical to create the sun after the Earth. Why NOT create the sun before the Earth? What does it serve to do it this way? The Gap Theory seems to be the only way to explain this.

Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

That is reading more into Gen. 1 than I can see.

How? By speaking?
Using the Hebrew Language. Every letter has symbolic meaning and a mathematical value.

Some well-known examples of gematria include the Hebrew words "chai" (חי), which means "life," and "yud" (י), which represents the number 10. When you add up the numerical values of the letters in the word "chai" (chet = 8, yud = 10), you get 18. This is considered a symbol of good luck, and gifts or donations are sometimes given in multiples of 18 in Jewish culture.

That's assuming God spoke the earth into existence, using the Hebrew language.
The idea that God spoke the Earth into existence using the Hebrew language is a belief held by some religious traditions, particularly within the Judeo-Christian tradition.

Of course, if you think God used King James language with a New Jersey accent, I suppose you believe something different from what the Rabbi teaches.

What does this have to do with
Which came first: the earth or the sun?
The formation and behavior of atoms are governed by the fundamental principles of physics, particularly the laws and theories of quantum mechanics and electromagnetism. These laws provide a framework for understanding how atoms are structured, how they interact with each other, and how they form molecules and compounds.

  1. The Sun formed from a vast cloud of gas and dust in a region of space known as a molecular cloud or stellar nursery. This process of star formation involves the gravitational collapse of a region of gas and dust, followed by the ignition of nuclear fusion in the core of the collapsing protostar. This nuclear fusion process releases energy in the form of light and heat, leading to the birth of a star. The Sun's formation occurred around 4.6 billion years ago.
  2. Formation of the Moon: The formation of the Moon is thought to be the result of a collision between Earth and a Mars-sized protoplanet sometimes referred to as "Theia." This collision occurred relatively soon after the formation of the solar system, around 4.5 billion years ago. The impact resulted in the ejection of material from both Earth and Theia into space, and this material eventually coalesced to form the Moon.
In summary, the Sun and the Moon formed independently of each other through different processes and at different times in the early history of the solar system. The Sun formed from the collapse of a gas and dust cloud, while the Moon formed as a result of a giant impact between Earth and another celestial body. The study of astrophysics and cosmology helps us understand the processes that led to the formation of these celestial bodies and their place in the universe's timeline.

God orders some of the elements in the seawater -- specifically Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and Carbon -- to come together
By the end of first grade most students master the alphabet. Yet no one seems to know the Hebrew alphabet.

We are told the building blocks of creation are Hebrew Letters.

Interesting that you say: "come together". In the Hebrew the first letter sets the pace for the word. In this case Nitrogen and Oxygen begin with the letter "Chet" This represents the wedding canopy used for the marriage of a male and a female.

In the Hebrew alphabet, each letter has a name and can also carry symbolic meanings beyond its phonetic value. "Chet" is the eighth letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and it is often associated with the concept of a "Chuppah" (חוּפָּה), which is a traditional Jewish wedding canopy.

The next letter in nitrogen represents water. The earth is 70 to 80% water. After that we have a Y. This represents the eye. Two eyes join together into one nerve in the brain. Next we have a Yud. The smallest of all letters. In Matthew 5:18 Jesus tells us: "For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter or one tiny pen stroke shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished." Of course Jesus is referring to the law in the Hebrew.

The last letter means a servant of "justice" or "righteousness". The first letter in God's name. God has impressed it upon me many times that He is a God of absolute and perfect Justice. As perfect at the laws that govern the universe.

The first letter for Carbon represents the mouth or speech. The Bible uses the word "said" way·yō·mer — 1948 Occurrences. If you believe that "God said", then what language did He use other than the Hebrew? What other language was there at the time?

The אַ in Argon represents heaven and earth.

  1. Nitrogen: חָמָצִיץ
  2. Oxygen: חֲמָצָה
  3. Argon: אַרְגוֹן
  4. Carbon: פַּחְמָן

Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
Indeed that is an interesting verse. There's no question that God COULD have created the Earth first. But I still say doesn't it make more sense that the sun would be created before the Earth? With the Gap Theory this is compatible. I find the Bible very logical. Sun before Earth is logical. What's the point otherwise? I guess it proves the unbelievable power of God but that really doesn't need proving to believers.

But I'm sure others would say the inclusion of Revelation 21:23 bolsters the evidence for the sun being created after the Earth. And they could very well be correct!

I'd like to know why Hebrew sounds so crude. You'd think it would be a very refined language like you hear from Japan or France. Those are very refined sounding languages. Like pearls of letters on the ears. Arabic also sounds very crude and boorish. Almost like they're spitting at each other. American west coast English (that you hear spoken by NEW YORK news anchors!) sounds kind of plain on the other hand. Spanish and especially Italian has a real beauty to it. I do wonder if there are reasons for these different language sounds. Like how did accents like Brooklyn or Boston ever come about? Who would ever want to talk like that? Parts of England are also very crude yet London English is so elegant and expressive. Why do languages have such distinct character?

Why do languages have such distinct character?
For the most part that took place at the tower of Babel when God confused the languages. God confused their language so that they could no longer understand each other's speech. As a result, the people were unable to communicate effectively and began to disperse across the Earth.

  • Hebrew: Hebrew is an ancient Semitic language with roots going back thousands of years. It is a member of the Afroasiatic language family and shares linguistic ties with other Semitic languages like Arabic and Aramaic.
  • Yiddish: Yiddish is a Germanic language that developed among Ashkenazi Jews in Central and Eastern Europe. It emerged during the medieval period as a fusion of Middle High German with Hebrew, Aramaic, Slavic languages, and other influences.
