  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

At least you don’t sound gleeful. For some it’s like it’s Christmas and they just got their Red Ryder BB Gun.
Well Trump is exactly the kind of person I'd want to see get his comeuppance. A blowhard fraudster who'll abuse the civil court system to cheat creditors of lesser means. Who will cheat customers ("Trump U"?). Even petty but character revealing moments like when he mocked that disabled guy. I couldnt stand this guy from well before he got political - heck probably from when he was a Dem.

But.... this is not a happy moment at all. I think it terrible for the country that its come to this. I blame him for that though. I also wish Americans had better sense at the outset than to believe this guy, of all people, would be good for the country.

The indictment is only going to help him

Could be. Depends on what evidence comes out - if it goes to court. But yeah, if youre right, thats even less reason to be happy about it. But I dont think an indictment should hang on whether it helps or hurts him. Thats not justice.

Help him avoid the Oval office. Indictments don't help candidates get elected in America. It's a fantasy concocted to keep fooling oneself. Humans have an amazing capacity for self-deception.

What could come out? Everyone knows he paid off the two women and the Feds looked at the case and decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute. This is not about justice it’s about politics

It could very well help him get the nomination. Those who don’t think so are living in a fantasy world. But the general election is another story

You keep bringing up the fact that the feds didn't prosecute like it's some sort of slam dunk. All it means at best is that they didn't think any federal crimes were committed. Bragg is prosecuting based on New York state crimes.

Sure, Trump could win the republican nomination. That is his goal in his campaign of vengeance. He is out to punish Americans, any Americans. Democrats, republicans, all of us let him down. This is but one reason we knew Mr Trump was not good for America. Trump does not possess humility.

Trump has done wonders for masochists in America. They found their champion. And I'm confident they can win him the republican nomination for president. Trump will either get elected or break every law he can in his effort. I figure more indictments are in the offing against Mr Trump before his tale is ended.

What the feds didnt find is behind us. What the state did find is what matters now. Hopefully we'll see for ourselves in an actual court.

Until then you and are are the court of public opinion, and youve found him not guilty, it seems. Thats fine. Our judgements arent consequential like those of a jury. We can go by our sense of the persons character and reportage. Heck I even still think OJ was guilty.

MTG has described the 'irony' of hearing about the indictment while she was visiting Gettysburg. I guess she's spoiling for a rematch.

Tell me, exactly what are the 30 counts? Or is it actually 30 counts or a different number, since that was based on anonymous sources? I mean, you must know already, right, since you are telling us it is all based on a single count that Federal Prosecutors decided not to prosecute?

We may be getting to 'standing in the schoolhouse door' territory.

Lucky thing they can't watch the Ruby Bridges movie in some parts of Florida.

DeSantis cannot block an extradition request. He possibly could delay it a bit, by taking it to court, but has no real chance of winning -- not to mention, it would appear Trump will willingly go to NY -- I think he looks forward to talking to the press after being processed about how it was unfair and he's being mistreated.

Assuming the NY County case is about what we think it is (hush money payments in Oct 2016) and assuming CNN's source is right about ~30 counts. The majority of the counts are likely one for each check written to M. Cohen and possibly one for each related entry in the ledger (the false business records charges).

We'll see soon what they are soon, probably on Tuesday.
