Judge delays Gov. Kemp's testimony in Georgia election probe

ATLANTA (AP) — A judge ruled Monday that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp must testify before a special grand jury that’s investigating possible illegal attempts by then-President Donald Trump and others to influence the 2020 election in the state — but not until after the November midterm election.

Now that the 2022 election's over, I guess he must have testified about 2020.

Georgia grand jury investigating Trump and 2020 election aftermath completes its work

The Atlanta-area special grand jury investigating whether former President Donald Trump and his allies violated the law in their efforts to overturn the 2020 election has completed its work, according to a new court filing.

Special grand juries in Georgia are not authorized to issue indictments. But the panel will issue a final report that serves as a mechanism for the special grand jury to recommend whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willisshould pursue indictments in her election interference investigation. Willis can then go to a regularly empaneled grand jury to seek indictments.

Got no issues with this. It would be nice to get all these side accusations finished and over with, regardless of the outcome. Trump screwed up here in even making the phone call.

Don't know if it was criminal or not, but. A serious lack of judgement regardless. And some very poor wording at the least.

Staying hidden for the moment, but this was an interesting detail:

If McBurney decides to disseminate the report, as the special grand jury urged, he must also determine whether any parts of it should be redacted.

A judge in Fulton County, Georgia, will make public some parts of a report from a special grand jury that investigated Donald Trump’s actions after the 2020 election in the state, but not specific charging recommendations.

In his order on Monday, Judge Robert C.I. McBurney said that the special grand jury’s introduction and conclusion as well as concerns the panel had about witnesses lying under oath will made be public on Thursday. Some of the information in those sections still may be redacted, the judge noted.

It's going to be hard to run a presidential campaign and insurgency from prison.
They've been looking for the past three years for something to imprison him over. If there was anything there, it would have been found by now. The fact that they haven't found anything is proof that they are just wasting their time. The fact that they continue opening new investigations shows that they don't care how much time they are wasting, or how much taxpayers' money they are wasting.

We could say the same about Hunter Biden, though actually it has been four years for him. And that is not mentioning Hillary, who Republicans have been trying to pin things on for over a decade (or even more than two decades, if you start from her husband's presidency and her campaign for Senate).

The big difference is that the party biden is on the side of is also on his side, and has been in the majority to block anything meaningful from happening. However, now that the Republicans have the House, things are about to change.

Sounds like Trump wasn’t as strong as some have claimed.

This sounds like a lot of excuse making, particularly the part about the Republicans having the House -- as I recall, the House can't hand down indictments. Also, as others have noted, a Republican controlled Senate committee already sought to "find the dirt" -- and came up empty.

It is also interesting how Hunter Biden and his dealings in foreign countries are so interesting but Trump's own children's work in foreign countries while Trump was President, and while the kids had Secret Service protection, are a big nothing burger (despite Kushner's $2 billion investment from a government owned Saudi Arabian company, that the company found was not a good investment, only to be overruled by the Prince).

Any bets on who the lying witnesses were?

"Working in a foreign country" isn't the same as getting millions for a "job" he was clearly unqualified for, raising the distinct possibility that the payments were more for influence than for a job-well-done.

How was he not qualified for it? Because he had no "oil and gas experience?" Again, go look at the board of directors of Exxon Mobile -- the largest oil company on the planet -- and show me how all the board members have "oil and gas experience." This is a false herring put out by political hacks, most of whom should know that it is false.

And, again, the Republican controlled Senate Homeland Security committee had investigations into Hunter in 2020 and found no evidence of any wrongdoing or "influence peddling," or that Joe Biden had any part in any of these activities by Hunter Biden (either in Ukraine or China). The most they could claim in their report is "it didn't look good," as they tried to score political points against candidate Joe Biden (the report coming out less than two months before the election).

What you also ignore is the fact that Trump's children often had government positions, such as Jared Kushner; so tell me, why did the Saudi Crown Prince -- after being involved politically with Jared -- overrule a Saudi-owned companies decision not to give money to Kushner's company and order them to give $2 billion. You don't think that looks much worse than a kid trading of his father's name (which the Trump children have also done).
